Default Should I buy

Hi Guys, new to the site.
I致e been looking at buying a Trek 1130 but I知 a bit concerned about all the problems/issues I here about the bike. I ride a ducati s4 at this stage and find the bikes a bit snug with my legs, love the power and weight of the bike and the feel of the V motor, so I知 still just trying to make up my mine which way to go..

I知 looking for some feed back having not rode one yet, how comfortable is the bike to ride over stay over a three or four hour ride, seat and ride position for a 6ft person, is it like a Ducati Mult, do you get wind buffeting from the shield (I like no shield as I hate wind buffeting when the shields not right for the rider), aftermarket parts like exhaust and other items are they easy to get? And service costs and so on, can稚 find much info about the bike at this stage other then test rides which again mention the on going issues with stalling and mapping and getting them fixed?. I gather these issues can all be addressed (which I知 willing to take into account) but are they as bad as some make out?.

Any help would be great. I love the look of the bike and I知 not sure if I can get a test ride easily at this stage. Should I take the big step blind?

Trevor

Welcome to the forum Trevor, you've certainly come to the right place for a start, I've only ever had Tornado's so can't comment on the TreK, but I'm sure others will advise you, just take into account that on here the bulk of threads tend to highlight problems, which is a good basis to work from, but there are plenty of folk who've never experienced any problems,

So I hope others will help you decide in choosing such an iconic brand,

Not sure where you live Trevor, but if your that undecided, I'd definitely make sure you get a test drive before taking the plunge.

Try this self test, would you reccomend your current ride to anyone who was comtemplating buying one?

The answer is probably yes....simply because you're used to the foibles of that particular machine and have grown to overlook its deficiencies.

No doubt you've read this forum and picked up on all the bad points and problem areas on the TreK but then again I think you'll find that most specialist forums tend to highlight problems as that's how everyone becomes aware of potential issues and remedies.

I think you'll also see a pattern emerging re all the Benelli range, with some "swapover" of issues within each class. That also extends to the other main issue that seems to recur a lot; everyone seems to have an issue with the "grin factor", can't seem to think why?

Keep looking around this site and take into account all the advice and informed opinion before you finally take the plunge......be warned though...if the looks are what have drawn you to the TreK, it might be a feeling that won't ever go away....had me itching for best part of 5 years before I was able to resist.

Hope you make the right choice!

Cheers

ride position very good
no buffeting with the windshield in low position
you can get aftermarket exhaust but difficult in the states.
mapping shoulds be OK

Where abouts are you located - I'm sure someone on here will meet up with you and let you have a quick test ride. Or make the effort to get to Bennets in Barnsley and see Russ - book a test ride 1st with him.
As a TRE owner I was impresses by the Trek when I borrowed one to get back from Scotland. The 1130 is a powerful but easy to ride bike. The wind buffeting is minimal.
I've also got (had) a 100ds and there is no comparison.
Bad points are getting accessories such as hard luggage and sports exhausts. Try and get one with these on - was a trek at MRO or KjM fully loaded a while back
