    650s pumping out oil

I laid this bike up last May and it was running perfectly. I fired it up a few weeks ago only to find oil pumping out of the crankcase breather and only running on one cylinder. I have removed the rocker cover and the valve gear is working as it should. The engine was rebuilt with new pistons and rings less than 2000 miles ago so I know nothing is worn out.
    Any suggestions ?

I think I have at last found the cause of the problem. The oil level was very high and the fuel tank almost empty. It was half full when I did the lay up. Could the fuel have leaked into the cylinders and past the rings and into the crankcase ? It is running perfectly now but I need to service or replace the fuel taps to be sure it doesn't happen again.Does anyone have or know where I can get rubber ( fuelproof ) washers ?

Did you figure out why the cylinder wasn't firing? My left cylinder only fires under load. I've replaced points, condensers, plugs, plug wires and coils. Just curious of the cause since I'm running out of things to replace. Here in the states you can buy the washers at guzzino.com. not sure if it helps you in the UK though.

Check. Forgot to mention new cylinder, new rings and valves all re-seated.

Is the pilot jet on the carb clear. It may have picked up some dirt from the tank ?
Failing that I would contact Selwyn from Selwyn motorcycles in the UK. He runs a business specialising in classic Benelli repairs .May be worth a long distance phone call +44 1223 893331
