    1977 Benelli Sei Restoration

OK will be loading some pics of my restoration, Frame and black parts back and lots of other stuff in the works. Spokes gone off to Buchanan as they didn't have a spoke kit for a Sei. 40 straight for the front wheel and 18 of each inner/outer for the rear wheel. Hopefully they will give me a reasonable rate for polished Stainless spokes and nipples. Rims/Hubs off for Vapor Blasting after removing all the bearings. Down to the bearing shop this week to get all 6 bearings. All shafts/axles/mounting bolts to be blasted and zinc plated. Would like to get an nice rolling chassis before putting the engine in. Engine freed up and the rocker/covers off for polishing to make it look mint.........progress at last.....
P.S Tins going to guy who did OEM bodywork on Hardley's for 35 years....so reckon he should be able to do a nice Sei Red with the correct black/white stripes. Caswell lining going in tomorrow if wxr is ok then off to paint...

    Carbs

Also stripped down the Dellorto carbs today. Damn they are like a work of art, all steel bits were polished ready for re-assembly. All bodies were stripped of jets etc and have gone off to vapor blasting then ultra sonic cleaning. trying to trace carb kits for VHB 26 S....

The 2 Benelli's, The complete one is being used as a reference. The one in boxes was in much worse condition but here's the start. Will post more details pics as I start getting on with it.

The Frame and all black parts have been powder coated Gloss/Satin as required. A lot more polishing on engine to do while I wait fro engine plates coming back from chrome and engine studs and axle's etc from zinc.
Wheels and hubs are being vapor blasted (Heard that the Borini rims come out really nice by this method). Still trying to source a spoke supplier. Buchanan's qoute was extortionate............

    Orlando,
I haven't restored a Sei but have done quite a few others and I would now turn that nice looking engine on its side and feed the frame over the engine. Good luck.

I was thinking exactly that thought. Even 2 would struggle getting that engine in through the upright frame. Just waiting for the engine plates and engine bolts to come back from chrome/zinc plating. Still have lots more polishing to do on the engine also......

At the moment Space Coast Plating in Melbourne, FL but their prices are going up every time I use them. Although quality is very good.
Zinc gets done by someone I know in Illinois.

    Orlando,
Just one thing more. While the frame is bare have you got good clean earth points on the frame? Now is the easiest stage to get them right. Your spare bike will show the points!

Yes your right. I should imagine coil mountings need to be done as well as main frame earth. will look at the reference bike.
