1973 Benelli Motobi 250 Super Sport Wiring Schematic

    Hi,

I am try to chase a wiring schematic for this model after looking at the existing system and the diagrams in the Sprite manuals they aren't the same. I obtained a NOS headlight with internal circuit boards but this is different to my original setup, the new one has the terminal between the A1 and GEN linked whereas my original are separate allowing for the 3 wire setup from the Magneto.

So any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Brett

    Brett:
Does the new one look the same as these two, and is this different than your original? First picture is existing original '73 Supersport, and second is new replacement- appear the same. Both my 1973 and 1974 250 SS came with a 6V battery setup.
I'm guessing with your magneto, there's no battery, correct? Could this possibly be a significant spec difference between 250 Sport Special vs 250 Supersport models?

    Hi,

That is mine on the top photo, however the NOS one I received is different it has the GEN and A1 linked with no feed in wire, maybe it is off a 125cc, so I might just transfer the internals, can you post a photo of the top circuit card where the key inserts so I can confirm the wiring there as well please.

Also how many movements does your key have?

Mine has one click to the left. The new one has one click each way??

    Thanks

    Brett

All three of my keys (the two originals and the new old stock peice) have one click operation, not two.
Do you want to see a picture of one of my original circuit cards, or one of the new old stock replacement?

    Hi Alex,

ok so one click that makes sense with the original setup.

if you could post the photo of the one you have in your 1973 model that would be fantastic then I could follow the wiring and confirm a few on mine.

    cheers

    Hi Alex,

Yes it is starting to, but it will be clearer when I get home a Nd look at it, I am in Dubai presently. I will be in Rome on Tuesday.

The red and black wires on the right side of the photo go up to the handlebar switch for the high beam?

If that is correct then I think I might have it correct.

    Thanks

    Brett

I think it's fantastic that you're so dedicated to restoring your Benelli, that you've travelled from Australia to Italy just to find tachometer cables!
