    250 2c airfilter options

    What are poeple using:

    Std aibox
    Pod K&N type
    Pod foam

Many years ago I found that pod filters got oil swamped running on 25:1 mineral oil, as I plan to run 40-50:1 fully synthetic, what are my options, what works best, opinions/experience welcome.

    Chris

    Hi,

I'm running the standard airbox and 50:1 synthetic.

Couple of tips; The airbox filter is a standard auto part and are available in most big auto parts stores. Very inexpensive. The rubbers between the carbies and the airbox are usually split and perished. A mate of mine discovered that black swimming pool vacuum hose fits perfectly and even "screws" into the airbox. It looks so good you'd think it was original equipment. So cheap you can throw it away every service. It also compresses a bit which helps fitting.

Have never been able to warm to pods. They always seem to look dirty and involve changes to jetting etc. Then again, I'm not chasing performance.

    Cheers,

    Tony

The filter is identical to those used in the 70's era Fiat 850's....knowing this will help the guy at the auto parts store look it up.

    Hi,

Yes, Alan is correct - the filter seems to fit some older Fiats (as does the Benelli Panther/Cross filter) and the guy at my local store said it was in stock for some older Morris or Austin cars - he couldn't remember which.

Anyhow, there are a few filter cross references on the net and this Fram filter is also called a CA73PL or just CA73 or Ryco A5.

You won't have a problem finding them. We have a very large chain store type auto parts centre near us and they are a stock item.

    Cheers,

    Tony
