    New 250 2c owner

    Hi Guys,
New owner of a late model 250 2c here. It was for sale at Pembrokeshire Classics if you want to see the photo. I don't have it yet but it looks a good basis for a project. I guess I'll need to sort the electrics, plus it has no indicators and it is apparently burning oil, perhaps from the gearbox so an engine stripdown, seal replacement etc could be on the cards.

Anyway just wanted to say hello, doubtless I'll be hanging around asking questions once I get stuck in.

    Cheers
    Dave

That's a nice looking bike Dave. It doesn't look like you're going to need many new parts for it, but if you need advice you've come to the right place. Not that I can give you any advice myself, as I don't own one like yours.

    Hi Richard,

Thanks for the reply. Yes I don't have it yet but it's pretty complete and I guess we've all seen much worse, come to that I have owned much worse! No worries, thanks for your interest anyway!

I guess if it's burning oil I was wondering what the possible sources were? Apart from too much oil in the fuel what are the candidates?

Is there a workshop manual available, preferably in English? The Documents section here won't let me in. I have seen Italian copies for sale from the German Benelli parts place - the name escapes me.

    Cheers
    Dave

    Hi Dave,

Welcome to 2C ownership. My mates and I have restored five of these so far and they are seriously fun little bikes. I can help you with a copy of the workshop manual. I have a couple of restoration blogs - just google Benelli 2C restoration and send me an email. I send you a dropbox link. It's a large document!

Your bike looks to be in excellent condition. Electrics can be problematic but there are fixes for all the usual bugs. This forum is the place to be - I wouldn't have been able to complete my first restoration without the input, expertise and parts sourcing from other forum members.

    Cheers,

    Tony

    Hi Tony,

Brilliant, thanks - I've already read your blogs - blimey that first bike was a serious restoration proposition, good onya for sorting it out!

Yes I hear the electrics are an achilles heel, and also one of mine so it's gonna be interesting!

    I'll drop you an email.

    Cheers
    Dave
