200 Sprite "no spark" from coil

I have a 67 200cc Benelli Sprite that I 'm trying to get running. I would run, but off a jumper wire in the headlight....feeding the coil. So I know the points are working. However, without the jumper wire I cannot get a spark. I'm thinking the ignition coil is shot.

    1) any spec.s out there on how to rewind the coil? wire type, windings...."how to" article???????

    2) anyone have a GOOD used one, if you removed to install a power dynamo set up?

    3) if I bin the whole ignition, which powerdynamo set up fits???? its the 200 4 spd. unit.

    thanks
    Mike in NJ (USA)

Surely, if you have fed the coil direct and you are getting a spark, then there is a problem in the wiring before the coil, and the coil works.

There are 3 "coils". 1 - the spark plug lead (HT) coil, 2 - the lighting coil (on stator) and 3 - the ignition coil (on stator).

The jumper back fed power from the battery, through the points to the HT coil, and it would "run" (somewhat).

Once the jumper is off.....regular kicking provides NO power to the HT coil. Points are opening and closing properly.

The "jumper" in question was removed by someone other than myself, so I don't know where the power came from or how it got back to the points...........

    Does this make sense?

I think a wiring diagram or schematic is needed to see what goes where.

Well done, electrics are always a pain, especially ancient wiring.
