Benelli 254 owner: interested to know of others

I purchased my 254 from North Leicester Motors back in 2010.&nbsp; It's in fairly original shape, and running pretty well I think.&nbsp; I can handle basic mechanical tasks (more or less) and have successfully sorted out some issues along the way -- most importantly with the carburetors.<br><br>If there are any other 254 owners on this forum who would like to get in touch to share advice, information,&nbsp;etc., I hope you will respond!<br><br>I'm going to see if I can post a few photos of mine here....&nbsp; this is my first post on any forum<br><br>Michael<br>Vancouver BC<br><br><img src="https://www.benelliforum.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=29977&amp;stc=1" attachmentid="29977" alt="" id="vbattach_29977" class="previewthumb"><img src="https://www.benelliforum.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=29979&amp;stc=1" attachmentid="29979" alt="" id="vbattach_29979" class="previewthumb"><img src="https://www.benelliforum.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=29983&amp;stc=1" attachmentid="29983" alt="" id="vbattach_29983" class="previewthumb">

Beautiful bike you have. I bought one about the same time but mine says Moto Guzzi has higher bars no fairing. I got mine at the Barber Vintage Festival while looking for something cool to replace a cb200 grocery getter. I looked at a jap model vtr250 not sold in US that i had been wanting but had never seen and wasn't impressed. Went to the roadrace pits and a friend had brought the guzzi hoping George would want it for the museum but they already have a silver one like yours. Mine was smuggled in new as a used bike by a dealer back in the day. It had about 12000k's on it and was burning oil so I put new rings in then the rusty exhaust blew out, I'm almost finished building a new one. I absolutely love to ride mine. I got lucky and found all the manuals in English from a retired mechanic. Luke in Oklahoma glad to meet another owner

Having serious trouble typing this, its like my keyboard is in slow motion, any help appreciated

Richard, what country are you in, im in US. Grimeca and Brembo and others made and still make that caliper. Was used on karts also. Cant find a link to new but see if one of these will fit. I made a bracket to fit a rear Brembo from a late Ducati and it works well. Might make a few more if any interest

Don't know the history of my bike but I think it got rode hard, motor wise anyway. Then it sat indoors a long time.
I took the oilpan off and found what looked like a fibre filter around screen around oil pickup, it had disentagrated into what looked like a dead rat. Any of you find that?
My shifting was bad like I had to make extra effort to get next gear. Mobil 1 made it really bad. Was easy to find shift mechanism plungers not sticking out far enough to rotate shift drum. I ground the step on them back .03" and it really helped I mean it shifts butter smooth now. Was that just mine or does yours shift good? Cant believe previous owner racked up miles like that.
Even after fresh top end cause rings were shot mine still wont rev clean to 9 or 10 thousand rrr's, was very thorough with carbs, float level, watch out for tiny washers and o rings on mixture screws. Do your bikes run good, any tips.
Just ordered an AGM battery same size as stock, ill let you know if it fits

Richard - Sorry for the delay! Try Burian at

    benelliparts.de | Benelliteile .

You'll be amazed at some of the parts he's able to supply. I met him at the 100 year anniversary event in Pesaro in 2011 and he just happened to have a NOS set of carbs for my 254 that solved the problems I was having with fuel getting past the float needles.

    Take care,

    Michael

Also I have ordered parts from Burian through his site on occasion and they always arrive in short order, nicely packaged -- no complaints. I don't know how he did it, but somehow he has ended up with an extensive inventory of Benelli 4 cyl parts.
