    750 sei oil filter

    I used to know this...
    but just to make certain.

I think the 750 sei uses the same oil filter at the Honda 400/4 and 500/4 of the mid-70s.
    Yes?

Possibly the 500/4, but I think the 400/4 used a steel canister type filter (what you need is a paper element type)
If you're buying from a Honda dealer, quote a Honda part number 15410-426-010

A heap of other bikes use the same filter, and they all have their own part numbers. Here's a list:
    BENELLI 65150000
    BIMOTA 16099-003
    BIMOTA 15410426010
    BIMOTA 36Y-13441-00-00
    HONDA 15410426010
    KAWASAKI 16097-0003
    KAWASAKI 16099-003
    MOTO GUZZI 65150000
    TRIUMPH 1210031TO301
    YAMAHA 36Y-13441-0000

Alternatively, buy a generic filter from a filter supplier. Here are some part numbers:
    HIFLO 401
    Filtrex OIF001
    K&N 401
    MEIWA H1001

Hopefully you'll be able to find a filter amongst that lot.

    Thanks!
Loads of great info. (I had a 400/4 before the sei I bought new, pretty sure it was a ‘cartridge’ type too).

You're probably right Mark. I had a 750/4 K1 back in the day. That also had a paper cartridge filter. That Honda was the only bike I ever bought brand new - cost $(Aus)1,595. I still have the receipt somwhere. I thought I was pretty cool getting about on a shiny new 750/4 in 1971 when my mates had Beezas or Triumphs that leaked oil all over the place .

I was only guessing that the 400/4 had a steel can type because a picture of one came up when I googled it.

    Cheers,
    Cam

I have a few cb750 (the early SOHC 1969-1978) in my shop. The filter is a direct fit for my 750 SEI and centre bolt “0” ring and the big base “0” ring are identicle too. Same filter used on cb400F and cb550F and K.
