    Pics from Mallory Park

Got back from the Benelli Festival at Mallory Park today. Had a great time and over the three days thoroughly enjoying the challenges of rock hard tent pitches, a pint of toxic real ale and primitive facilities. Thanks to the efforts of the folk that organised the stand and made everything happen. Might even go around the track myself next time. It was great to meet so many old and new faces there.

    Some pics here:

#97 was owned by the bloke that pitched opposite us. Didn't get his name but he said he was a custom show bike builder. This was his venture into a more regular road bike. He was a true engineer doing stuff in a way that fitted with his strengths. For example he said he was rubbish at tube work so the frame is made of aluminium plate and section. The plate was cut half way trough bent by a team of strong fellows with crowbars then welded up to for the required shape - genius. The tank is made from steel triangles welded together as he didn't have an english wheel. The special exhaust and CBX motor produced the nicest sound ever without being too loud - Fab! The number plate lifts out of the way on a button and the Earls forks are his own design. There is a bad pic of him racing in there.

Thanks for photos Chris. What a great weekend-lucky with the weather(remember 2 years ago mudfest). Loved the track sessions-you've got to give it a go next year-see if you can beat my little bike.

Cooo - some things there to be sure! Is it my imagination or is the yellow bike in #37, Mead & Tompkinson's "Nessie"??? And later on in the paddock, I'm sure that's the "Team Bike" VF750..... Howard Lees was a very nice man; i knew his sister!
