    750 starter motor

Hi all. does anyone know if the starter motor on a 750 can be removed without stripping the motor down? i see its bolted in with 2 bolts but one of them goes behind the clutch and if i undo the nut off it will i loose the bolt into the depths of the motor or will it stay in situe? are the starter motors unique to Benelli or are they the same as another model, honda? mine is sticking and dont smell too good when turning over . thanks Rich

i have found out by being brave that the starter motor comes out by undoing the bolt that holds it in at the top and the bolt that holds the end plate thing to the engine. the other bolt that can be seen just holds the 2 end parts together. the starter is a bosch, no. 0 001 160 015. need to find another one now. The starter can be rebuilt - talk to Selwyn MCs - perhaps a service exchange might be on the cards? If your starter is slipping - growling rather then turning the motor over this is a common fault. I most likely have a spare someplace if you're desperate.
