New one on me... Ignition Barrel Drop

Noticed when setting off from work the ignition barrel seemed to have a bit of a wiggle to it when I put the key in.

Got home and when I took the key out, the ignition barrel dropped down underneath where it should be, dangling all loose! Never seen that before.

As it’s only a week since I picked it up new, I’ll let the dealer sort it, so will be on the phone first thing in the morning.

Anyone else seen this problem before?

Sounds very unusual as i thought the barrels had a snap bolt so they would be very difficult to remove by a thief, maybe the dealer has had to remove it for a reason, let us know the outcome.

I would have thought the same as Ron fitted with bolts That the head shears off. It’s not something daft like the plastic housing has lifted away? Must be annoying though having a new bike that you can’t ride. At least the weather is rubbish

A friend just dropped by. Two 500cc twins about 50 years apart! Gutted we couldn’t go for a ride.

The TRK is being picked up tomorrow to be fixed. Looks like it’s just two bolts underneath that hold the ignition barrel in place. Should be a quick fix.

The same thing happened years ago on my 2006 TnT 1130.

The bolts probably weren't tightened properly at the factory.

Sounds like what’s happened to mine, Mike.

Picked up by the dealer a couple of hours back with no fuss. As I live 25 miles from their site, pleased it was collected quickly.

I don’t mind an issue when it’s resolved well.

Collected the TRK this morning. Sorted with the minimum of fuss.

Very happy chappy here. Thank you Avon Motorcycles, Bristol.
