    I replaced the oil seal but you can cut and glue them. Tighter means less chance of catching it and we'll you know the rest.

    If it's done up to the correct torque and locitited it should go the distance, cleaning the thread and bolt thourgly with brake cleaner first will help the loctite hold,

    On a previous bike which had the same problem, I used a piece of cloth laid under the battery and up the sides. Slim enough not to interfere with the fit and made pulling the battery out really easy....
