    :: Newbie with identification question

    Hi there, go easy with a newbie whilst he finds his feet here at your lovely forum!

    Last week I happened to be in Northern Italy where my GF's uncle offered me a Benelli (my first) gratis.

    What luck, I hear you cry.... indeed. But I have to have it shipped back to my home here in London - (£££)

    Anyway, I'm rather puzzled by the machine as although it is branded Benelli on the tank, frame & engine casing 125 TUR 121cc (with frame number 14010 and engine number 13852), I can't find a specific 2-stroke model that matches this.

    Also there appears to be Moto Guzzi models identical in appearance..... Anybody know what's going on with this bike?

    If I say it's a 1976 Benelli Turismo 2c have I answered my own question?
    Anyone know if/why Moto-Guzzi were producing identical models?

    In any event, I guess I'll be spending some time here over the coming months as I try to get her onto the UK roads.
    Machine has compression and has been dry-stored for a number of years. Was working before being parked up but wouldn't start so will need some attention.
    I'll join the UK club as soon as I have dating photos worthy of the name.

    A friend suggested I *may* have trouble with customs since I was literally given this bike in Italy (where it seems the appetite for vintage small bores is mysteriously negligible).

    Thanks again.

    That goes by the name of 125 T or 125 Turismo

    Benelli and Moto Guzzi were owned by the same person in the 70's and the bikes shared many of the same parts.

    You can find a workshop manual for it here which may come in useful.
