They are god almighty. they don,t make it easy for mortals like us to challenge them .
They are beyond the reach of most of us , faceless , nameless and untraceable .
Just a thought , why don,t you send Rick your info and let him walk in and surprise the bastards.
He knows the drill , if you have all the documentation, he can only ask the same questions, as you in person.
Given that it is a straight forward, re registration of a previously used vehicle from France , to use this bike in the UK.
All the crap of CoC and IVA/ SVA are red herrings to stop you continuing your request. To legally use a secondhand French bike in this country , have it tested by VOSA mot system to conform
Get V5c in your name and use it , fully insured to comply . Christ you are even going to pay Road fund licence on it . What more do they want ?

As long as thereís a definite counter service there,Iíll drive down on Tuesday or Wednesday. Using the work van itís free fuel and only a couple of hours away.

They definitely donít advertise the fact of a counter service. If you google it no one seems to know about it.

    I refuse to be beaten..........yet

    Van ?

Will the bike fit in it ?
If so, take it with you with the French plates on it.
Some times they want to SEE the vehicle to ascertain it exists, I know , what a load of planks !
Alternatively take pics of the bike , french plate ,vin plate and present that .

They can be so inane sometimes, but they have not bet me YET !

    Best of luck,

Just remember , be polite, even if they are being stupid .

    Here you go Fred...
    Seems quite easy .
However you must notify HMRC it's been permanently imported into the UK within 14 days of it being here ...
Form looks straight forward enough as long as you have all paperwork . Mainly the French V5.
They will even help you fill the form in over the phone too.. 🙂 .
If you need what I've got here posted to you p.m. me your address .
    All the best Rick

    That looks familiar

    ill ring them tomorrow

done all this 3 times, on the last occasion there was still a checklist stapled to the paperwork with a tick next to mot, french reg doc, proof of I.d, NOVA notification, Correct money etc and a big red X next to CoC..........

thanks for for your efforts though, Iíll try one more time.

I take it they donít entertain personal visits.....?

    brilliant question

yes you can visit and must really ...as they need to see your driving licence and a utility bill before they will issue a new logbook. .. they also mentioned there was a £50 payment as well to hmrc i believe ..

I would guess there is the problem , French side , as the bike is still in the French Registration system , hence it has a previous identity and could appear back in France on its plates and a French TUV, plus of course it still has the last place of registration in France..
A notification of permanent export to the French authorities would have deleted it from the system.
    Go get them Fred

Best of luck , but I am sure it will cost you money, "they have ways of extracting from you"
Bet the £50 donation is a tick box charge .
I had to send a confirmation to both the buyer in France of permanent export, send the same to DVLA and they sent me a confirmation that the registration had been removed , which I then sent to the buyer in Paris .
