    Anyone know this bike?

    Hi everyone.

I'm new here and looking at buying a Tornado and I've been doing my homework on them.

I've see one for sale at Wheels in Peterborough, reg PO12 KYC.

Is anyone on here familiar with this machine? It's low miles, but has 4 owners which seems a little high.

    Thoughts?

Looks OK maybe a tad pricey. Original boots (if they are) will be very old if you consider build date !

Check for FSH and Bennetts of Barnsley or MotoGB for mods. Also, a centre punch after the VIN

    Read Errol's bible below.

It looks pretty clean but that is not the Arrow Titanium exhaust, as listed on the website, so you should be able to negotiate a few quid off.

Thanks for the info guys, especially the exhaust, I would never have spotted that.

    Hi Mate,
    Just seen your post.
What interested me is that the registration of this bike is almost the same as
    mine. Mine being PO61
What I found out from Bennett's prior to buying my bike was that it was in the crate from 2004 and put
    on the road 2011
Bennetts found out all the mods had been done by Moto GB.
I managed to get a list of work carried out which I feel is so important.
I also managed to get the bike accepted on my classic bike policy as a 2004.
This was done sending a image of the chassis number.
I think your find that the bikes were registered in the Preston area, mine came from a shop near St Helens,
Hope you get it and enjoy, Cheers Gary.
PS yes I understand your thoughts on previous owners but as long as you have a service record.
If it's been serviced by say Bennetts it would certainly make me more confident to buy.

Sorry to disagree but I don't think you can rely on MotoGB to be sure the mods have been carried out. When I bought my Tre in 2011, KJM ( part of MotoGB) told me all the mods had been done
I was never confident and when a vibration started I went to Bennetts to find that the mods had not ben done - and I paid to have them checked and to have the remedial work carried out
( and the workshop gave me photographic proof of the work). Doubts resolved I've enjoyed nearly 8 years of ownership BUT I'm so glad I didn't trust the assurances I was given .

    Hi Wyn,
Don't be sorry to disagree as you could well be right.
In your case it tends to break any trust in some dealers.
I can only go by what Bennetts found out for me from Moto GB and paperwork that shows what parts ( presumed)
that were fitted in the modifications. I must point out Bennetts have not seen my bike yet.
I was hoping the company I bought it off would take it to Bennetts for a service first before it was delivered to me.
But they would not do that so its now in Essex.
Did I read somewhere that a stamp/punch mark should be visible once mods has been done. .
I sure someone will let us know.
Anyway thanks mate for your advice cheers Gary.
PS Wyn can you describe the vibration you got and what revs/load as it may help before damage is done.

Firstly a correction , my Tre came from Millenium not KJM , but still part of MotoGB group

Vibration- - didn't notice it on normal roads but on the Brecon bypass,, where you can run up through the gears for a longer period than is usual round here, it was vibrating above 5000rpm - that's when I started to worry and the thought that "any problems would be dealt wit under warranty" did not give me any reassurance - I met someone who went down the road when his Tre locked up on him and put him in hospital, on the day I bought my Tre - like the guy said " a warranty claim isn't a lot of good to you when you are in hospital" , especially as he paid £12k for his. At Bennetts my Z25 was loose

But don't let me put you off, my Tre is a delight and I hope you enjoy yours as much me
