    Tre clutch when cold...

    Hi all,

A question for the masses. Last year, my tre worked like clockwork, very happy camper! This year, the clutch seems to be iffy. When cold and I ride for the first ten - fifteen minutes or about five miles, if I accelerate too hard the clutch slips, engine revs and then engages. Then after that everything is fine and works like a dream again! Any ideas? Another oil change? Something more sinister? Anyone else suffered with similar?

Take the clutch plates out and gently clean them.. possibly remove any burnt on engine oil off the metal pressure plates too with a very fine paper 600 grit ??..
An oil change may help if it's been in a year even with low mileage.
I have had this issue in the past when I first got my bike but not anymore .

Cool, thanks very much for that! Sounds like a half term job! (I'm a teacher, the kids love it when I turn up on the bike)

I think mines doing this aswell, at the start of a ride, especially when I get up to about 8.5k rpm it seems to make more noise than it does movement ! Then seems to come good after a few miles. Will have to try cleaning the clutch plates ! Or maybe swap them with the plates from my other engine

Hi Guys, Before you start ripping your clutches out I had the same problem last year with another bike.
It turned out to be the clutch plates that had dried out when the bike had not been used.
Give it another run without to much wellie and you may find your problem will go away.
    worth a go, cheers Gary.

Thanks for the heads up! Going to drop the oil again this week and give it another go before stripping the clutch!
