    What's this hose for?

Always wondered why the Tornado has a smaller hose running from the radiator side of the thermostat up to the top of the radiator.
I thought maybe it would be to help bleed the system, but air would get trapped at the thermostat because the line drops down almost immediately.

It's not to divert coolant back to the water pump to reduce the temperature differential between coolant entering the block and leaving it either, since it's on the wrong side of the thermostat

    Any ideas?

I'm almost certain it's a degas pipe, though perhaps not very well implemented if the routing makes it form a trap. It's too small to play any role in actual cooling performance.
