Hang on , dont panic .
lets just consider what you have got.
where did you buy it and who from. how many owners ?
Is it an early registered bike (Silly priced ) or a later one sold after 2007.(Discounted)
Is it a 2003 or 2004 bike (chassis number )
Most of those sold at discount had the mods done prior to selling
Is the bike known at Bennetts , Moto GB or on the forum.
The point is , it may have got warm , does not mean it has self destructed.
Yes you can get yourself into trouble if you drag a bike out of storage and just ride it .
But , if you did not do an oil change, drain it now and look at the oil. If it is black, at those miles , somebody is telling porkies .
worse still if it has got deposits or shrapnel , then you have got a problem .

Thanks Rick going to.look at it tomorrow not had a chance today . All it says is in manual is tighten alternator nuts onto worm drive with correct thread lock so I guess it's one of the 3 three tightening screws ?

It’s the bolt holding the alternator drive coupling to the shaft which couples it to the clutch drive gear (it is called the z25 gear and shaft) Older setup was a weird lock washer new setup is a Belleville washer larger bolt newer shaft and gear. Rick is worth listening to.

    To get at it
    Disconnect battery
    remove left fairing panel
remove 3 cap screws for clutch actuator
disconnect 2 wire connector on alternator
disconnect large power feed to alternator
remove 3 bolts securing alternator and remove alternator
check the drive on the end of the alternator, it can work loose and there should be a spring washer under the nut.
remove the rubber drive bushings and Chechen there is a Bellville washer on the bolt in the end of the Z25 shaft.

if it doesn’t have the spring washer on the alternator and the Bellville washer on the Z25 shaft I would suspect it hasn’t had the gear and shaft replaced.

    hope this helps, cheers, Don
