    Stepper motor

Does anybody know the lifespan of a stepper motor.
The reason Iím asking is all of a sudden my tornado is taking longer to start, where it used to start first time. And itís now cutting out when idling and coming to a stop. I hope Iím on the right track.

It could be stepper, they can stick in the housing try inspecting it before you buy one. They live underneath the airbox but enters the airbox At the right hand side. You can feel if it is working by pushing gently on the piston and turning ignition on. On the walbro it fully closes when the ignition is turned on and backs down slightly to running position. Other things are leaks on the stepper hoses or throttle bodies .faulty TPS. Have you changed anything lately TPS reset, manual throttle adjustment , injection correction?

last time I changed the air filter, dropped a single oil (any) drop on the stepper, i'm not sure if it was the reason because I changed the air filter, oil, oil filter and spark plugs, but now idle is much better.

    Hi .
Almost certainly the stepper needs a clean.
You can prove this by adding a little extra tickover by the remote adjuster or when starting from cold open the throttle up a tiny bit when starting .

Where is the remote adjuster. And which way do you turn it. Cheers.

There isn't one. You only get them on TNT's.

My Tornado Tre 1130 has remote adjuster in the left side just over the generator (right behind the fairing).

first mark it with a white pen or something to get the orignal position.
turn the bike and wait until it gets warm idle (not the cold ilde) and move the adjuster in one direction, you will notice if rpm increases inmediatly.
turning in the other direction will not reduce idle since the stepper will take control if you are in the limit already.

I usually give a 50rpm or so ver the idle on the bikes I have with the remotes, so they have a better drop in RPMs while in traffic.
