    swing arm spindle

just purchased a workshop centre stand for the trek.

It utilises 2 threaded rods with turned pins about 3/8 inch at the end. These are inserted into the end of an appropriate socket which will fit the swing arm fixing on the frame.
So basically you fit the socket (if needed) and then tighten up into the square turning recess of the socket to obtain a pivot point.

Does anyone know what size and type of male key socket i need for the offside as it looks like a large star spline effort.

    Any help appreciated

I'd noticed in the workshop manual that it referred to a 20mm allen socket .

It appears that this is used once the "special screw" cap is removed. Obviously just a locking or cover cap over the end of the swingarm spindle on the offide of the bike.

if you click on the image from the manual below it enlarges the image showing the "special screw".

Just a large hex socket (giant allen key), i just purchase a cheap set off of ebay at the time.

If you are not in a hurry i'll look out the correct size by fitting it to the bike as soon as i can.

    Ok thanks Slip

Its a Polygonal drive rather than a straight Allen key but i guess a giant allen key will do the job

    I got a 20mm for the inner

    regards H

Only the LE's have the polygonal ring. The other Tornados just need the 20mm hex tool to remove the swingarm pivot rod.
Although I'm still not sure that the Polygonal ring need to be touched to remove the rod.

My problem is the whole lot turns so i need to restrain on the Polygonal side i measured it 34mm im guessing this is where the special tool goes, there is what looks like a pinch bolt on the 20mm hex side in the frame i tightened it but seems to have no effect
