    ECU query?

Friend has an 1130 with duff ecu.

A replacement ecu could not be found so an 899 trek one was used just to try and start bike.

    No spark at all.

Tried in my 1130 same again.

Is this probably just a duff ecu which won't be saved by remapping to a 1130.?

Being stupid we assumed that although it was from a smaller displacement we would still see a spark at the coil and then from there move on to doing a remap.

Have you tried connecting to the the ecu? The majority of duff ones seem to be unable to connect to(but not all)

I did it the other way around and fitted an 1130 ecu into an 899 and it fired straight away but obviously then TPS and map changed.

Haven't tried using tunecu yet , but as you already stated I assumed that it would fire up (i.e get a spark) but then tps, map etc then would need to be changed.

I was just wary of using tunecu on my own bike with a possibly duff ecu in case for some obscure reason it knackers my speedo clocks unit.

I know that sound silly, but having lost a set of clocks on a different bike a few years ago due to a melting number plate rear wiring loom , i'm just a bit cautious.

Does anyone know if I disconnect the clocks console whether it will stop the ecu from running through start up procedures.

    Thanks for the reply
