If this kind of crap will be a success you can't believe that Benelli will produce a new supersportbike! :doh: What would you do if you see that your expensive "high end" product doesn't sell very well and your new cheap and easy to build product is a success?? Face it if this is the new way of Benelli we have a problem. Maybe that is what the mayas meant with end of the world is coming in 2012 :rolling: :D

IF this "BJ:rolling: "is badged as a "keeway" or similar in the west it could open the door for the engine (IF good) to be used in a new higher spec Benelli range out of italy?
OK so they may use the Benelli name in their home market (where western brands are more highly valued) but as long as they dont use/abuse it in the west would that be so bad?
And, if it allows a new range from Italy thats got to be good?

Not really that different to Triumph, building bikes in the east from parts sourced all over the world, incl china. Indeed there is talk or a new small triumph, built in India.

lots of ifs and buts but maybe not all bad...maybe

It looks as though the decision is made on the name; it even has the Benelli flip key.:(

As for using the engine for a new, high spec Benelli, it is just an old R6 unit, isn't it? There is no way the 'real' Benelli; ie the Italians; will want anything to do with that. They may be given no choice, of course.

That is the trouble with the 'nouveau riche'; no class. They splash the cash, then once you have taken their money, they bend you over and give you a good rogering.:bawl:

Benelli have been raped....

Lets be brutally honest here. We've old technology but it's fun and raw. You will not get another like it, when there all sold sadly that's it. :bawl:

...... which, to be fair, looks like an R6 motor. MCN said it was based on a mid- noughties R6 design. They didn't actually say it was an R6, in effect built under licence. The implication is they have cribbed the R6 design. In a way, there is probably a limit to how much the design of an across the frame dohc watercooled 4 can vary, but it was a fair comment, imo. Benelli have gone their own way where engine config. is concerned up until now, as have Ducati and Aprilia, so why build a Jap clone now? Answer? 'Cos they are a Chinese company, who even name their bike a b#ow job!:rolling:

they have scrimped on the gear lever it doesnt even have rubber bonded on it :p

I had a conversation with Rob over this and he too said about Triumph so i'm not knocking Benelli's Chinese owners for trying to ensure sales by covering all bases , maybe there maybe a upside in sales of this will allow development to continue elsewhere within the scope for Benelli.

Haha, I noticed that, too Angus! :) That is a plus point, though. they have learnt from their mistakes! The rubber never stayed on anyway.
Likewise by putting the Trek rubber inserts in the pegs, to prevent feet slipping off.... They copied me on that one!;)
What they haven't learnt from is that, despite our footrests being prone to breaking, they have used much the same design.
Everywhere you look it is cheap. That doesn't make it a bad piece of kit, if it is cheap enough to buy, but Benelli don't deserve to have their name stuck all over it. I am with Kevin Ash on that one; he is singing off our hymnsheet.

I've had some howlers in the past. Cant see that looking any better in the flesh? Very flat looking design. Who the heck penned that beauty?
Rather buy a Hyonsong 650 R thingy.:rolleyes:
