Just wondering what tyres people are running?

I only cover about 500 miles per year on mine and change every 4 years max, as they seem to go off, but not through wear. I had Maxxis on my Ducati, which were actually pretty good value for a road tyre, as had a hard wearing centre and softer outer. Tyres are about 4 years old now on the 1130, so think they need a change, just a pity, as they have good tread left.

Any recommended ones appreciated.

Me , I like Bridgestones, BT016 pros 120 70 front 190 50 rear, they don't last that long and are not that expensive either , soon as the back has gone which it sure does on an 1130, I throw the pair away and replace a.s pairs. I like a good front ,not part worn

Pirelli super corsa SC2 rear, sc1 front. Running a 190/70/17 at the moment, never had an.issue with these tyres, great in the dry, i ride them though winter too- just adjust my riding, parts are far too pricey to even risk a scratch let alone an off

I like Dunlop Qualifiers....by no means the latest or most trick but have used on road and trackdays (wet and dry) to good effect and seem to suit the tornado very well. Also helps that they are often discounted...

Everyone will have their own views though , so you may have just opened a significant can of worms!!;)

The one tyre i would ward against is the Continental Contimotion .....tried one a few years ago (mainly due to extreme poverty:doh:) and they were orrible, no feel, poor in the wet and through to the wires about 50 miles after hitting the wear indicators.....Dont be tempted, no matter how cheap.

My MV came with new Qualifier II , they are good and have a flattish profile so doesn't tip in super quick but very predictable. (not tracked yet though). My Tornado came with Pirelli Diablo Rosso II , these seem to have a steeper profile which seems to make it tip in quicker but still seem pretty good though only done 100 miles on the bike, again not been on track yet though,(hopefully in April) Its easier to get to the edge on the Dunlops

Mmmmmmmmmmmm

As Always its horses for courses when it comes to tyres.
I always use Maxxis super sports on the road always been a great tyre wet or dry. On track I use Continental sport attack again a brilliant tyre with no issues giving great feel and grip in both dry or damp conditions. But of course its what ever floats your boat.

Michelin Road Pilots

I run these on the CR and they're great - lots of feel, bags of grip and a good profile for smooth cornering - They're very predictable in the wet and not too many beer tokens either - I like'em :ele:

Ya wont go far wrong with any mention affor, But Qualli's tek some beating. & cheap too.
Now ust southerners have translated what it is thost saying,
whats cheap lad ?

If you want a good service, like ride in /ride out, fitted, and a good cup of coffee from a biker tyre fitter, (RC8 hooligan) Any tyre you want, give me a ping I know just the man .

I am a bit of a Battlax fanboy I have to admit.

My Benelli came with Maxxis Supermaxx which were diabolical. Never had such little faith in a tyre, and theyd apparently been on only 300 miles. I binned them and fitted Battlax S21. Got caught out in hail on the Benelli last year with those S21s, they were excellent. My Triumph Daytona 955i has them on as well.

My Guzzi Griso is fitted with the touring compound T30, it'd murder S21s. I was going round the outside of sportbikes at Mallory on Friday at 80mph on a soaking wet track! For all weather use, I can't fault S21 or T30.

I rate the T30s... this pic was with T30s fitted... They're as good a tyre as any of us will ever need on the road.

Strange stuff

Strange how we all find tyres different, I have used Maxxis tyres both on the road and on the track, and have always found them to be more than up to the job. In fact I have just fitted a new set of maxxis super sport to my TNT. I know that Chris Walker recommends and fits Maxxis to his race school bikes. Last year I tried a set of Continental sport attacks on the zx10r track bike, and again brilliant tyre, great feel from both rear and front so will now swap between both makes for road and track.
But then again I have never been much of a Tyre Snob.

Love the fact that you tracked my old Griso...........True Hero

So many choices! Well, as I would only be doing 1.5k miles max every 4 years, I get fed up of changing tyres with a lot a life left in them, but at about 4 years the tyres seem to go off, its like riding concrete tyres. Think I will go for a softer, stickier compound as at least they will look like they need replacing. I never ride in the wet as the Benelli is just a summer toy, having said that Norfolk roads would most probably shed them to bits!
