Hi I was enjoying my bike all summer. I got now 12 000 km on the clock by doing my z25 check up I discoverd a missing tooth on my starter gear.
All of them came from Maniac and are made in Germany like myself. Dont think that still means something these days.
I will go for a cheaper chinese one from Ali express the next time.
Or I will try out my spare 899 starter clutch and starter gear ?!
Here a picture of my collection of stript z17/67 if anyone is interested.
There are actually 4 . 1 is still in the bike also used 3 starter motors everything in the space of 2 years.

That is really sad news. Did you perhaps sent this picture to Alex and ask for advise?

I will try anyway ?
you mean "try spare 899 starter clutch and starter gear"
Actually I assume the root cause of repeated issue with starter gear is somewhere else, likely in a part not changed yet.
But from remote with little info this is very hard to diagnose.
In some earlier post I seem to remember that you mentioned the engine got some tuning via a different injection & ignition mapping?
The trouble with opening so many threads for the same issue is that the relevant history is hidden elsewhere :(

No everything is back to normal since Alex sent me the original map he did back in 2020 when he tuned the bike. I am running that map since 1 year now and he bike runs great.

I reached out to Alex and gave him as much info as I could. Here are 2 pictures. One of the old original starter motor and one of the triumph model that I just pulled out. The pinion and gear in both look the same and I never experienced a lack of power when starting.

Top triumph Tiger or sprint 128000-8630
The bottom picture is the original 19243001a

From what i found online of their specs they are the same
