Buy the correct ODBII adapter (~$20-$30), and a Tactrix OpenPort2 USB dongle ($35-$40), download ECUHacker, plug it all together, connect to the bike, and see what parameters are out of range. You can even record your riding session to catch when the lights all dim, and see what happened to cause it (after pulling over of course). Well under $100 USD and now you can diagnose problems in any motorcycle.

Note that the connector is different based on the model year. It's under the seat on the left hand side. Make sure the adapter you buy matches the connector. But also, do be aware that if you have the white connector, a Delphi adapter will still not work. The Benelli has a different pinout for the connector. If someone advertises it works with Benelli/Bosch and Delphi ECUs, that is a lie. If you have the red connector, you're golden.

In the USA, this is our ECU connector:

Earlier models used this connector:

The white connector is a delphi-style connector, but has a different pinout. I'm not sure if white was euro 3 or 4 or what, as we don't have that designation in the USA. The red connector is what we have. I have a pinout for the white connector somewhere, but not the red. For the red, there are six positions, but only five in use. One will be 12V, one will be ground. The one that has a voltage reading on it (won't be 12V) is K-Line. The last two will be canbus lo and canbus hi, and you've got a 50/50 chance of getting them right. For the white connector, the pinout is here:
