Hello forum!

I just bought my Benelli TNT1130, I need help to make the diagnostic cable to scan the bike, I have Windows 10 and it won't connect to Tuneecu

I bought these ftdi232 USB cables

If you can help me, thanks, which cable should I buy or what am I doing wrong?

Hi Diego… you will need windows 7 as the dll and exe files do not work well with higher windows version!

Lonelec is cable that should be plug&play.

I bought something like this cable - RS232 with FTDI chipset FT232RL
Aliexpress FTDI cable

And then proper connectors to connect the DB9 connector on the cable to AMP superseal 6pin connector on the bike.

Your cable doesn't work because it is TTL usually used for arduino but walbro ECU doesn't support this protocol. I think in TTL it usea different voltage for communication.

And no, you don't need Win7 to run it. Mine TuneECU and DIY cable runs perfectly on Win10.

¿Qué voltaje utiliza la ECU de Walbro? ¿Puedes mostrarme el cable y enviarme el enlace de AliExpress para comprarlo?

This is the cable I bought most recently: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32808235711.html? The picture shows it with the adapter I assembled. For USB-C, I now use this type: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32714136437.html?

Local suppliers might be able to offer one of the other cables pictured below. I have used these with TuneECU for Windows. The two on the left only work for the Windows version of TuneECU, not for Android. The first left has a CH340 chip, next has Prolific PL2303. The silver cable with blue connectors was advertised as having an FTDI chip but it does not give a reliable connection. It drops out with the engine running and I would not trust it for reading or downloading maps. The three on the right have worked fine for me on Windows and Android.

Hello! I need help please, why doesn't the cable I bought work?
You made the same mistake I did with my first cable. A TTL cable does not work for the Serial connection with the Walbro ECU. In terms simple enough for me to understand, TTL is nominally a 0-5V signal while RS232 is nominally a +13v to -13V signal.

For the record, the difference between TTL and RS232 is explained in more detail below (ref 【整理】TTL和RS232之间的详细对比 – 在路上):

"The only fundamental difference between RS232 and TTL is:
Different hardware (mechanisms):
TTL
Logic high level == ' 1 ' == Vcc == 3.3V or 5V
Logic low level ==' 0 ' == 0V == 0V

RS232:
Logic high level ==' 0 ' == negative voltage == -3V~-25V == usually: -13V
Logic low level == ' 1 ' == positive voltage == 3V~25V == usually: 13V"

I have used TuneECU on Windows versions from XP to Win11, connected by three different types of USB to Serial cable. I have connected successfully with cables that have FTDI FT232 series, Prolific PL2303 and Chinese CH340 chips.
(TuneECU for Android will only work with USB to Serial cables that have FTDI FT232 series chips.)
With the late versions of Windows, the first step is to connect the cable to the PC for the first time while it has an Internet connection. Then it will automatically download the cable driver (perhaps might need to uninstall any existing driver first). The attachment below is a guide to connection with Windows.
