190/50 or 180/55, i thought the 180 would allow for slightly better handling, although the 190 size seems more common these days, was gonna go with a set of either Pirelli corsa III's or Diablo rosso's, anyone tried em?
It's also stock on the Tornadowell i drive 190/55 Diablo corsa 3 it is as good as 180 in handling and as good as 190 in grip, may be this is the reason why it is the stock size on MV Agusta
The stock is a 190/55 and Not a 180I would stick w/ the stock 180. A 190 will slow the handling down immensely and the handling is the whole point of owning a Tornado![]()
No, but, if you want a hardly worn original front D207, I've got one going cheap....I think mines still on the original pair of Dunlops at 6000 miles not bad I found them to be nice and stable....Has anyone used Continetal Road Attacks ? I don't want mega stickies I prefer value oops longevity![]()
Shame its the rear thats balder than Gandi's ed lol slap !:doh:No, but, if you want a hardly worn original front D207, I've got one going cheap....I'm coming to Sussex in 3 weeks....

Ian, I hope you dont mind me carrying on with this disputeThe 190/55 is the stock tyre for the Tornado
Colin, Having refered to the workshop manual, as opposed to the owner's manual, I can see where both you, and n33ly are coming from. The owner's manual states 190/55, while the workshop manual states 190/55 (/50 fitted)ZR17 (73W). The latter appears to me to read that they fitted what they wrote in brackets - (190/50)(73W), as opposed to the 190/55ZR17, which was the original design specification tyre. That bears out n33ly's theory that the D207 190/50's were fitted for convenience, and also, why you believe that the original rear was a 190/55. It was, but it wasn't intended to be....maybeIan, I hope you dont mind me carrying on with this dispute, but If you are taking the size from the manuals,it is missprinted . It does say 190/55 but it also states 73w. A 73w is a 190/50 or 180/55. A 190/55 is a 75w type.
If you check data from Benellis web site the sizes I say are stated.
The LE only gives a 180/55 and it has a narrower rim than the tres (5.5)(tre6)
Colin
Im sold my next set gonna be 180/55 did you guys know btw that the first production sportsbike with a 190/55 was.....?Ian, I hope you dont mind me carrying on with this dispute, but If you are taking the size from the manuals,it is missprinted . +1 on that IanColin, Having refered to the workshop manual, as opposed to the owner's manual, I can see where both you, and n33ly are coming from. Most people seem to be happy with a 180/55; turns quicker, larger footprint at full lean, etc, than the 190/50, and the 190/55 should give similar characteristics, whilst raising both the gear ratio, and the seat height, the result of which would be to steepen the steering angle for quicker steering, but more twitchy.
You pays your money and takes your choice, I reckon, but it all seems to leave the 190/50 out in the cold. Unfortunately, I have heaps of tread left on mine yet  .
cheers,
Ian
That is why I ended up with a 190/50, I guess. I bought them as a front and back tyre deal; 190/55 wasn't offered in the deal, although there was an option of a rear 180/55. I went for the 190/50 because that was what was originally fitted. I should have guessed....:doh:The 190/50 is a cheaper tyre than a 190/55 - that's why Benelli ended up fitting them.
.
I would stick with the 190/55 as 190 section tyres are designed for a 6 inch rim. 180's are designed for a 5.5 inch rim. You can fit a 180 to a 6 inch rim but as the wheel is half an inch wider than the 180 was designed for it will "flatten" the profile slightly.Im sold my next set gonna be 180/55 did you guys know btw that the first production sportsbike with a 190/55 was.....?![]()
