First time on Forum & post.
My Sei has been standing for a while, decided to get back on the road but runs fine but when hot looses power and will not start againg until cools down.
I have fitted Sachse electronic ignition (Very easy) fitted new main jets, balanced the carbs, adjusted the tappets & fitted iridium spark plugs.
The engine now starts, idles & runs superb but still does not want to re-start when hot.

Any ideas where the problem is?

Cheers

Thanks for the info.
Fuel taps are fine, I have checked flow & cleaned carb fuel filters.
On the fuel theme I checked the float height on 5&6, it was 26mm adjusted to 24.5.
I took out for a 20 mile ride on Tue, ran fine, Rev limiter on the new electronic ignition works well....got carried away when making an overtake.
Arrived home switched off left for a minute and it would not restart, left for another 5 mis and still the same, tried again after 15 mins and it started.
I have looked at the manual and should be running on 98oct fuel, currently has 95.
Getting there....any other areas to have a look at?

Cheers

My 900 sei suffers the same problem when hot i have fitted an oil cooler and this has cured the problem. If the bike was ok previously check the timing on the Sache electronic ignition is set ok, some times incorrect timing overheats the engine and causes the fuel to vapourise in the carbs. When the bike cools it restarts fine as in your case

buy or borrow 3 colour tune's made by gunson one for each carb and cilinder to match, set carbs as per the manual, then usually you have to run them rich and this will tell if you have got any faulty carbs. it worked for my bike
hope this helps

Getting closer.
Off to france for a long weekend......on a plane rather than the Benelli:( so wont have chance to do anything until next weekend.

I still have the original coils and leads, so an upgrade is in order.

Forgot I have a "colour tune" in my garage somewhere....not seen for 20yrs though but a mate in the Pub on Monday sugested the same and he knows where his Colour Tune is so I will have a look.

Re the electronic ignition it has 9 power curves to choose from and I have set on 5 as I have no idea which one is best......any ideas as I may have set the wrong power curve:doh: ?

Thanks

All good now

Starts and runs fine now hot and cold. Cleaned and rebuilt carbs inc the "o" rings plus cleaned the fuel filters in the tank.
One of the new Iridium spark plugs was duff...(never had a wrong one ever)
Did 160 miles last Saturday and ran perfectly, just need to get some new foam for the seat, a screen and look forward to a trip around the Scottish coast next year.
