Just been to France to the Millau viaduct:
Mpg betweem 31 and 38, speeds c. 85 - *** ; all autoroutes.
The bike is so comfortable its unbelievable.
But unfortunately It boiled over, not once but twice on a motorway,
this has caused me concern.
If I carnt trust the bike it may have to go.

Strange. Min's never boiled, and I've ridden in 100 F.
There's one getting around the middle east that faces even higher temps without a problem.
I know of a Tornado that did a few laps of PI with only half the coolant in it, and it was fine.

Are you sure it boiled?
Or do you have the Rev A dash that screws up the temp readout?

Hi andrew, I have a 2003 model and it still has the old type clocks on it.
the gauge goes sky high on a regular basis but the actual temp is fine, Ive never lost any coolant, and I put it down to the old type dash right at the start so I just ignore it, I make sure the coolant level is ok before I go on a run tho.

yea it worried me at first but Ive done 6K miles with it like that and nelli has never dropped any coolant, I just found myself riding along looking at the gauge instead of the road (bad habit) until i got used to it.
if you don't wanna fork out for new clocks if your out of warranty just ignore it mate it'll be fine.

Oh Yes She boiled

Dear All,

She boiled ok ; twice all over that lovely smooth french tarmac.
The clocks were changed last year. I have never bothered with the temps displayed on them, never had a problem before this.
When i take her to Russ for a services i will ask him to check things out.
Its good to see positve suppport.

Some of the early tre had a rad cap seal that was a bit small and this could be what caused the discharge. The updated cap has a wider seal that is tapered i believe.
