The tenth digit of the vin number = year.
As far as I am aware most 900 tre were made before 2004,there were ones made for america in 2005.It may be that these american models were slightly different? they may have the walbro ecu ?(as per 1130 tre).

How can you tell what year tornado you've got?
Mine was registered January 2009 but might have been sitting in a box for years!!!!
Roly,

You can tell from the VIN Number, stamped on a plate mounted on the throttle-side of the frame just back from the headstock.

Mine is ZBNTB00003P100099

By way of an example - the 3 indicates it was built in 2003, and 99 is the frame number (#99 in the production run - which makes mine a very early one!).

See Errol's site for the complete story (no surprise there then?! :bow: :bow: )

cheers,
Dom

PC3 compatability with an 1130Tre

Can anyone confirm if this PC3 woudl be compatible with my 1130 Tre. The VIN number showing on my V5 is ZBNTB02007P100082 which suggests to me its a 2007 build?

Thank you very much for that.
It would seem that mine was actually built in 2004 but sat around in someone's warehouse for about 5 years :confused:

looks like PC is wrong

soon know , Ive bounced off a email to gianluca at the factory, PC own product list appears wrong, they used to list 900 tornado as a 02-04 model, now its just 05-06, and the pc's the same as the product code for a tnt, now seeing as 1130's were only made from 07, I believe there have confused a tornado naked tre for a tornado tre, they used to list 2 diffrent pcIII's for the 900 tornado and the 1130 tnt's not any more. yet seeing as the seagem ecu in a 900 is the same as a triumph 955 daytone, i believe they have send the wrong one out and list them incorrectly on their website, because before they were different, now they are the same product number

funnily enough

pc also say that the 411 pcIII fits all the 955 daytonas from 1997 to 2006, which we know is wrong, the 955 went from a segem ecu to a kiehin ecu system, yet the pc model number is the same, how about a aprilia futura, only ever ran a Sagem mc1000 ecu, pc says it is a 411 as well, what a load of crap, 04 tnts ran a segem and ALL TnTs since 05 have run Walbro's, Futura's ONLY ever ran Sagems, but according to PC they are all the same!!!!!. Ive asked gianluca to confirm if any 900 tornado's were EVER fitted with a walbro, and i expect none were, so my question is this;
If anyone with a 900 tornado has a PCIII fitted what is the pc model # on the module?

interesting

even old copies of pc's catalogues say the 728-411 fits 900s, and 726-411 fits tnts.
red racing parts list the same product codes too. lords knows what are 728-410 fits??

either way Frank, can you please confirm the model # on the pc module, if its either a 728-411 or a 726-411 I still buy it for $100USD :)

thought so

as per the main man at the factory.
"Ciao Nathan,

the Sagem system is fitted on every Tornado tre 900,
the first 900 L.E., the second version biposto and the last 900 RS.

Since Benelli started with the 1130 engine, all the motorcycles were equipped with a Walbro system,
even the TnT 899 made in 2008.

Ciao,
Gianluca "

I reckon pc's got it wrong, their current web site definately is, as their old catalogue and product numbers prove, it should be;
tornado (1130) 07+ and 05 onwards tnt's 1130's take a pcIII 726-411,
All 900's take a 728-411. to suit a sagem ecu.
I'm going to send them off a email, I would say you have a walbro one and not the sagem, because I guarantee its got a sagem under the riders seat
still confirm the model on the module and i'll buy it of you :)

because I'm a pedantic fanatic

I send PC a email, because even though US bikes may say 05-06, we know they were all made 03-04, and maybe early 05, and 1130 Tornado only from 07 to 08.

"regarding the benelli pc models, I believe a error has occured when the sites been updated,
All 900cc Tornado's run a Sagem ecu, years 02 to early 05. this includes the Limited Edition, Tornado Tre, and 900RS version of the Tornado. I believe , (going on older pc catalogues) that this is pc product code 728-411.
Some early 2004 TnT's ran a sagem as well, but by 2005 onwards ALL 1130cc TnT's, 899cc TnT's, 1130 Tre-K's, 899cc Tre-K's AND 1130cc Tornado's run the Walbro ecu.
Please note that 900 tornado go from 2002 to early 05, while 1130cc Tornado's were only built in 2007-2008.

As per the email from Benelli PR contact;

"Ciao Nathan,
the Sagem system is fitted on every Tornado tre 900,
the first 900 L.E., the second version biposto and the last 900 RS.
Since Benelli started with the 1130 engine, all the motorcycles were equipped with a Walbro system,

Maniac Motors have a 728-410 fitted to a RS they have on the showroom floor, seems to fit?:confused:
Looked around the web a bit and all PC 111 usb models seem to end in -411. So not sure where 410 comes from at all, unless it is not a pc 111usb:confused:

There does seem to be consistency that a 900 tornado is a 728-411 model, and for an 1130 tnt is a 726-411.

Interest perked up a bit now, in line with the recent running rich threads - so whats the opinion on pc vs tuneboy etc?:D :D

The PC connects to the + and -, the injectors and the tps.It does not connect to the ecu? Since the tps and the injectors are the same on all the tornados and tnts I would have thought that the PC should work on either ? Only difference may be the loom,due to fitting location.
On the other hand I may be talking crap??:confused:
I hope dynojet get back with full explaination.
colin.
PS, when you read the fitting instructions it shows pics of an RS.
