Right guys and girls-

To cut a long story short, I bought this bike with 3200 miles on the clock. It now has 3239.

i bought it with such low mileage as it used to belong to a collector of Italian things (🙄) as a bit of eye Candy in the garage - Why he didn’t buy a Panigale it’s beyond me.

surprisingly it has very good history, it’s certainly been kept on top of in terms of servicing, despite hardly been used.

so, after reading through all the threads on here regarding coils, stepper etc I got to work straight away with 2 brand new coils, stepper motor, Oxford premium hot grips and some arrow indicators for the back.

to cut a long story short, after completing all this I had it sat on the driveway ready to give it a blast with the new bits on. It cut out and hasn’t started since. I tore the bike down 4 times to make sure it wasn’t something I had done. But, it’s been away to a specialist and it turns out it’s the coil drivers in the ECU that are buggered after all that. The engineer stated that it was condensation that had caused the issue at hand- with it being stood all its life.

I’ve lost interest basically and I know with this mileage it’s the only one of its kind. Especially in the UK. According to “how many left” there’s 11 899’s still registered.

SO- would anyone be interested in taking her on? The bike is extremely clean as you can imagine. I’ve just lost interest. I bought another street triple whilst it was away with the mechanic and ECU specialist bloke.

all paperwork, MOT, 2 keys etc.
Located in Halifax, West Yorkshire.

offers welcome.

Shame it wont run on Sagem, I have got a spare but the looms are different and not interchangeble.
Would like a second opinion of the diagnostic appraisal, "condensation" within the ecu ???
Must have been a really damp cellar, the rest of the bike would show considerable degrading of finish.
Looks to clean for that to me .

I wouldn’t have thought damp would do it. I removed the potting compound on my duff ecu and it wasnt easy. So it is well protected in there. If I had room and price was right I would have it.

There is an ecu on eBay for £258 plus postage with a broken plastic connector and maybe pressure connector but seller says it works and it states offers!

Thanks for the input guys. After further conversation with the guy himself, apparently the biggest factor is that it had a duff coil, apparently when it goes on for an extended amount of time it fires a back voltage into the coil drivers in the ECU. I’m not all the clued up on the electronics side of things. I’ve messaged the guy on Italian eBay.
It’s a shame because it’s a beautiful machine, and as you can all imagine, with the mileage it’s like a new bike.

hopefully the numbers match up on the ECU’s and I can get it going.

it’ll still be for sale when it does fire on account if I don’t have the space for three bikes and I’ve just fallen out of love with it.

Offers welcome chaps 😂

The ecu is correct ECU 1A But for an 1130 so the maps loaded are 1130 so will need a 899 map loaded. This can be done with Tuneecu
