I have a Benelli Tornado TRE LE (limited edition).

I believe it has a 525 drive chain and Id like to convert to a 520.

The rear sprockets in 520 are easy to get since they are 5 bolt pattern to fit Marchesini rear wheel, and many manufacturers make these.

The problem is finding a source of a front sprocket in 520 that fits the Benelli.

Does anyone know who makes one, or where I can get 520 front sprockets to fit my 2003 Benelli Tornado TRE LE?

thanks

520 Front Sprocket

From my JTF catalogue, there are none that will fit without machining, but that's not difficult if you have a tungsten tool & a lathe.

Offerings are:- (JT Sprockets)
JTF736 - Ducati 916 Strada Biposto - 520 conversion - (machine 8mm 1 side)
JTF737 - Ducati 907 Paso Sport - (machine 3mm both sides)

No doubt, AFAM will have alternatives, and there's always Ducati originals.

Front Sprocket

Andy, ages ago bemwah reported that
MV Augusta - front sprocket is the same across all models so F4 1000 or 750. The center offset was only off by 1 or 2 mm. So I didn't bother to do any machining.
I haven't seen it, so can't comment, other than I believe it to be a 525.
As far as I can tell, there is nothing exactly the same as the original Benelli.

Bugger, there was me hoping the rear sprocket on the Benelli might be the same as one on a different bike so I could find a replacement with a few more teeth and use that one!

I was chatting to a dealer at the ExCel bike show who said AFAM did a replacement for the 'stocker' with 3 extra on the rear andouldn't require chain replacement. He didn't have stock with him, but gave me the company detailsso I could order online... I went to order online and they said they didn't do replacement or Tornado's.... a bit pissed off to say the least!

Rear Sprocket

Andy,
you want a rear? Easy. Chaingang. They make them in house. They've supplied me and Baz (I think), and no doubt others here in Oz. I guess they'll put as many teeth on it as you want. I think it's made to fit a Marchesini wheel.

The front is a different kettle of fish. It has to be hardened, and the spline makes it difficult to make. So it's made by only a few specialist companies.
