900 Sei: Carb conversion to 6 x Mikuni VM24SS

Because of the really bad shape of my recently purchased Benelli 900 Sei I decided to put it totally apart and start a bottom up restoration combined with certain improvements. One of the main sites will be the conversion to six carburettors. It seems to be impossible to get three more intact Dell'Orto VHBZ24D carbs. Therefore I think about following Enrique Martinez' suggestion (ems-benelli) for a contemporary alternative which could be a set of Mikuni VM24SS, used on many mid-sized 4-cylinder-Kawasaki's, e.g. Z650B (see pic below).

Does anybody here in the forum made this change already and could let me know:
- if there is enough room for a battery of six VM24SS in the height (side panel) and in the width (room for knee),
- how to lengthen the carb bars,
- which intake manifolds do fit,
- is it possible to use a standard connector between carbs and cylinder heads?

It would be great to receive a feed back
