I doubled the cable area (from 8mm² to 16mm²) on both the positive and negative cables last weekend. The extra positive cable went the full distance from terminal to solenoid. The extra negative cable was terminated on the engine, 200mm shorter.

Cranking is now faster, and isn't laboured. Well worth the trouble.

Actually

How long did it take?, do I have to remove a fair bit of crap to get to it all?, was 16mm cable a snug fit between battery and that little gap in the battery holder?

Re: Battery Cable Mod Pics

Took an hour or so in addition to removing the tank & fairing. I left the originals in place & added 8mm cables (Jaycar WH-3060 & 3062). A single 16mm would be hard pressed to fit under the battery. Using 8mm gives the flexibility of adding a third pair!
