Bn 125 reving high when idle and riding

Hello, so when i ride my bike it randomly revs high into 6000- 7000 rpm and idles there for a while then goes down to1500 then back up. I’m wondering if there’s anything wrong/ needs cleaning. I do have an aftermarket exhaust and have done all services myself currently only done under 5000 miles on the bike

thank you in advance for any advice to help get it back working.

Check your throttle cable routing, lock to lock on steering..see if it makes any difference, also lube throttle cable if it is sticky on twist grip..good look.
throttle cable and grip is completly fine, i spoke to someone and they said the carb probably needs cleaning but i'm not sure
Does it have injection? If so check throttle position sensor a idle stepper motor, throttle body butterfly and air leaks on inlet rubbers. If it is carb does it have slide or butterfly ? Check slide for sticking and air leaks on inlet rubbers. Good luck

If is a fuel injection model then check the aftermarket is still using the oxygen sensor (lamda probe). Otherwise the engine management unit is getting false data. if it uses a carb then an air leak in the rubber parts or in the manifold could cause a lean fuel-air mix and your problems. Also check your fuel filter as it may be restricting the fuel-side of that equation, and then do the usual checklist of carb float height, needles jets etc.
