Hi all,

I was at a dealers today looking at buying a ex demo Aprilia RSV 'R' when he showed me a Tornado TRE. So as the title suggests can these bikes be run on a budget or are they bottomless pits?8o

I know the insurance is obsene but I was prepared for that.:x

Any known issues?
:rolleyes
Am I mad should I run away and buy the Aprilia?:eek

I'm sure all these have been asked before, just not by me;)

TIA
Darren

Servicing costs are like any other bike.
Fuel consumption is not more or less than another sportbike.
And as long as you have warranty you wont have to pay for any parts that break down :rollin

Welcome to the forums Darren;)

The Tre is a stunning looking bike but just like any other it does have it's problems. The paint may peel, the battery may fail, the clutch basket might let go, they clocks may reset themselves and these are just the start of the problems that this bike has. Take a look deeper though and you may find that it's the lack of support that we Benelli owners are more concered about. We are prepared to put up with the niggles, but when you almost miss a full summer of great biking weather because the dealer or supplier don't seem to give a hoot about you then I would look elsewhere. This is my last Benelli that I will own until the support improves with both parties. If it was a choice between owning the rs or the Benelli then for your own sanity ..... go for the rs.

Hmm, actually I don't think i'll bother.

I think i'll stick with the Aprilia or some faceless but ultra reliable japanesse bike. :(

Thanks for the info :eek

Hallelujah! Another soul saved!

Pesaro, anybody there?

I was wondering if any of you got invitations for the Misano event this week-end. A few German fellows got it just these days. that would be a sign that their event was not booked as they would have expected and they are trying to get more people there on the last 100m.

Not that they haven't sent an invitation to me even if I had e-mail exchange to Pesaro last week but they wouldn't even click "Yes" on the Read Confirmation attached to my messages. That's about it about these characters.

They prevented me anyway from getting there as I would have go on my Benelli LE bike but the bike needs majour service after five months spent in a service shop<img border=0 src="http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/mad.gif" />

can these be run on a budget

Yes i have just got my invite.
We havnt been back from The Austrian Tyrol very long.
I suppose we could have ridden down if we had gone on holiday later. But we went on our 1050 Sprint ST.
Would the Tre have done all the miles without a hitch?.
The Sprint was comfortable and practical with the panniers, but the Tre would have been a lot more fun on the track days.

Re: can these be run on a budget

Ok Guys,

Me again whats the difference between a TRE and the TRE RS?

Also what is the warranty period on these bikes? and finally is the warranty worth the paper it's written on?

My head is saying I must be insane for even considering one of these bikes but I just love the styling.

Cheers
Dal

on a budget

The Tre Rs has Radial front brakes, better suspension, adj. steering damper,OZ wheels and all the bits are black. So of course it is not available in green because if it was i would have one.
The reason i got one was because it was the obvious replacement for my ageing Triumph Daytona.I am a big 3 cylinder fan.I dont think i would buy anything other than a 3 cylinder bike.
My love affair with Benelli now stretches to a TNT as well.
Hopefully soon the dealer backup will grow and be acceptable.
Zebo.

Re: on a budget

Hi Dal,

Warranty on new bikes is for 24 months and I've found it to be pretty good so far.

Re: on a budget

dal,
i have recently purchased a shiney red RS from TAZ in peterboro and have to say i absolutely love the bike.......i asked the same questions as you and spent hours trawling thro all the threads on this forum.....thinking i must be nuts.....but consider this, every bike has its problems.......i bought a brand new r6 in may and every week something fell off it!!!!!!!!!!!!!
a few years ago this bike was 13500 pounds.....now 6995 on the road with 2 year warrenty.....this has to be the bargain of the century......i just fill sorry for the poor sods who paid top dollar for this bike. look at e bay at the moment .....someone in oz is advertising a 2003 le for $50,000 AUS.....(about 20,000 GBP)....sure some owners have had problems......but you have to take a balanced view of this forum.....because for every 1 disgruntled owner there are plenty who absolutely love there bikes with a real passion.....and realise that the good outweighs the bad ten fold.......hope this helps:D :D

Re: on a budget

Hi Guys and thanks for all the answers!

My budget won't strech to a brand new bike but will hpoefully get me a late used bike I have recently seen a TRE RS in Red 2005 with 2600 miles @ what appears to be a very reasonable £5695.00.

However I really like the Green and Silver colour combination, If a buy one of these standard TRE's which is say registered 2005 is it actually a 2005 bike or a 3 year that's been sitting around?

TIA
Darren

Re: on a budget

hi again darren,
a 2005 05 reg rs will almost cetainly be manufactured in 2004 as was both my 56 rs and colintornados 06 rs but it will have all the latest upgrades....so this is nothing to worry about.......TAZ have 2 standard 06 tornados for about the same money.....which again will almost certainly be manufactured in 2004....but of course you would get nearly 2 years warrenty with these......to check year of manufacture look at vin number which is mentioned on another thread elsewhere on forum
