M.C.N (UK) has confirmed that the factory has closed. sounds like dad(merloni empire?) has pulled the plug on his son`s business venture.
m.c.n also said there are 3 poss buyers for the business, lets hope that the power struggle stops and a sale is completed a.s.a.p.
johnny 'o' do you know any more than that??
looks like i`ll be buying a 2nd tre for spares.
Nope, I don't anything but I'm not really worried, everyone know's what Italian motorcycle companies are like, the fact that the TNT is such a fantastic machine makes me feel confident that someone will buy the company soon; if it doesn't sell soon the company will be worth nothing, surely the dicks at the factory will know this?
I am considering buying a tre but after reading about all the problems and that the factory apparently does not give a stuff about the product, dealers or consumers I am having second thoughts. But if we, as lovers of the bike, could get a syndicate together and take it over I would not hesitate to buy.
Welcome to the forum. Yes the Tornado has it's problems, but I believe that the new owner has sufficient resources to pull Benelli out of the brink of disaster. Besides, owning Italian machinery has always been a love/hate kind of relationship associated with it.
All I know is that things will definitely improve for the obvious reason that it could not possibly get any worse!! <img border=0 src="http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/roll.gif" />
..and all I hope is that Benelli gets to come the USA so that I can buy me one!
Thanks again for running this forum (if I understood the meaning of "ezOP" correctly.) And I am grateful that you run this forum without owning a Benelli!!?? (I could be wrong, but didn't you post the "youngest Tornado rider" pix?) ...I am easily confused... >D
Please contact the good folks at GP Star (www.gpstar.net) They have US spec Benelli (that meets the emission standard, mine is a '05 California spec. Tre) They even helped me through the DMV registration process. You could even purchase the Tre from them with the hydraulic*clutch conversion installed. GP Star provides excellent post-purchase service as well. My Tre's factory battery died and they replaced it with a Yusa battery the next day at no charge.
Yeah I run this forum but I don't own one. (Yeah I know I'm a sorry a^& bas$%@#!).
The images I post in the gallery are on behalf of the members that do have a place to host their pics.
I appreciate the GPStar referral. I think there's a dealer here that actually has a couple. Not sure where he got them from. But I think I will wait to see what happens with TVR. If they discontinue the current Tornado, I might snatch one up pronto and keep it in my bedroom! Or I might just wait and see what they come up with. I heard that Nikolai a while back had designed a whole new sportbike before he bought Benelli. I have not seen it but I heard it's an awesome bike. We'll see if he'll start producing it under the Benelli badge.
I do hope Benelli manages to finally come to the US. I've heard about a few Benellis for sale in the States but after being on this board for 2 years now I'm well aware of Tre teething problems. I don't want one w/o a warranty. GP Star is great and all but they don't work for free and they don't give warranties. If the bike breaks you're paying (a lot) for it.
If we were talking about a Honda then ok (I bought an RVF400/NC35 5 years ago and other than crashing it a few times while racing over the years it's never had a problem) but this is Italian. I want a warranty
I seem to recall someone saying they were going to completely revamp the Tornado? no underseat rad, etc? Any truth to this? That's what brought me to Benelli. I think the TNT is ugly as sin. Hope they're not moving in that direction. Damn, may have to buy a grey-market Tornado after all? :rolleyes
nah I doubt it, its what makes it different and i have no cooling drama's on my RS, I see, hydraulic clutch, 1000cc motor, maybe Ohlins suspension, and the electrical gremlins sorted (instruments and starting sorted), apart from that they doesnt need any more fixing. Mr Smolenski may have a idea for a new sportsbikes but if it doesnt use the triple motor its years and millions of euros away, the only thing I'm going to do to my RSs is maybe the clutch upgrade and get the battery sorted, so my clocks stops bloody reseting, will keep ya posted if better battery and thicker cables fixes the problem
