Hi
Any one tried to wheelie his Tornado?
Is it more difficult than Japanese bikes?
Can you lift it in second?
Does it hurt the bike? (forks, bearing etc.)

Let us share the information about it..

Thanks

Wheelies

From what I have heared the Tornado is one of the bikes that really needs to be pushed hard for wheelies due to its increased front bias.

I think Johnny O had mentioned somewhere on this forum awhile ago that dropping to a Z 15 front sprocket and a going up to a Z 43 rear sprocket made the bike want to up and boogie.

Good luck

Yes it can on std gearing

Not easy, 1st is fine. Once its up you can change to 2nd, 3rd and if your good at balancing it keep it 3rd or even 4th for as long as you like but its heavy on the front and doesn't come up as easy as the latest jap race stuff.

Video of me lifting it in 1st and changing to 2nd. Only a very short road but you get the idea

Re

good stuff Dean.

I'm really worried about the forks, chain and sprockets, that’s why I don't want to push it very hard..
I can lift it in first then change to second but it is very difficult compared to the jap bikes.

any way, what is the best speed/revs to lift it in first?

Dean you are very naughty, acting like a hooligan on the public highway!!!>: You should be locked up and the key thrown away. Oh and by the way I should have your bike so I can practice to be as good as you! :lol :lol :lol

Wheelies

On our demo RS, I'd clutch it up in second, click third and go for a couple of k's. With stock gearing.

2nd gear

Those RS's must have a few more ponies cos my Tre was a b*tch to lift in 2nd. I could do it but it certainly wasn't keen like it was in 1st.

Re: 2nd gear

Cheers Al - Cant get rid of me that easy. Been putting alot of my time on the track recently, getting back into racing again so havn't really been on the net. As for road riding im saving my pennies for the 1130 still. Been riding a R1 recently and it does nothing for me...miss my 900 |I

Re: 2nd gear

You'll have to keep us all up to date with what you're up to on the track buddy. What class of racing are you doing and is it expensive to get into? I wouldn't mind doing a wee bit but I'd have no idea where to start:b

Re: wheelie tre

Hey Al, cheers. Racing a YZ250 (yam) in the upto 450 class. Eastern Centre Expert. I guess its maybe national level. One up from club but one down from british. I'll get slaughtered at first no doubt but lets see how it goes. Made 4 time champion under 21 when I was at club level >D

Nice pics of that Tre doin them tricks. I've seen that before - theres another of him backin it into a corner thats quite nice. He certainly has learnt the stand up wheelie on that tre!!!
