Please don't believe all that you read here is a true reflection of everyones experience. There are some of us out here who still love the bike, despite a few probs, and despite paying £12K for it!!!!!!!!!

Seriously, the bike obviously has a few problems, but no less than any other specialist bike. Just look at MCN this week and you will see recalls for various fixes to many of the Jap manufacturers. All I would say is have a long test ride, consider how you will use the bike, and get a rapport with a good dealer. I'm in Bedfordshire and go south of London for servicing etc ( yes you know who you are)

Go for it, it's unique

Please dont buy it, the bike sucks bigtime!

Oh and did i mention that the fact that you buy one too makes it less unique for us to own one? Each one more on the street degrades the "uniqueness" 8)

(just kidding, go for it :) )

Dealers

Red Dog seem to get the best reviews. Bottom of the M25, so not too far from Norfolk (if you are in the SW corner :D ). Mitch from Red Dog races a Tornado, so he should know what he is doing...

See any of the UK monthly Bike comics for contact details, or find them on the internet.

How good is it...........Not good enough to be frank!

Mark

I sold my bike after having done 4000 miles. There was pleasure, but a lot of pain as well, during my ownership experience............see comments elsewhere.

Though I gave the dealer/importer many opportunities, they were not able to provide me with a reliable bike, despite various promises and warm words. Ultimately the factory are to blame for this, rather than the dealers.

Ask your self why the bike's value has dropped so much. £12K to £7.5K is a big drop in value for a brand new bike!

Ask your self why there are not more on the roads than there are! After all there are plenty of bikes out there for that price or about the same (at it's peak of £12K). Read between the lines of some of the more heated exchanges on the website. If you want something that is unusal, the bike may be worth 8K£ but be don't be surprised if your bum gets bitten!

One day I may buy another Benelli, but for the time being I've had enough.... and want some trouble free riding.....well hello Aprilia!!

Cheers

Sonic

Buy another one?

I've read people saying "don't believe the bad things" etc etc - but the facts are that the MAJORITY of owners have sent back/sold their TREs.
Makes me laugh when I see people saying "you'll be smiling from ear-to-ear"...what a lot of sh!t.
Even the most loyal of owners (Crimson) have eventually cracked under the relaibility issues.

Would I buy another?...maybe when they finally make a relaible bike with decent support from the assembler and dealer network.

IMHO the Tornado is:
Unreliable
Under powered
Over weight
Trouble with a caps T

Benelli

Hi Marky Mark.

I have had my bike 3 weeks the clocks failed within 7 days. If you are going to buy one you will have to be patient over spares. Ensure that either KJM (Benelli UK) or Russ at Benetts service and PDI your machine. I can not comment on any of the other dealers but looking at the responses you have had dependent where you ar in the country you should be able to find a good dealer. But check around for servicing costs. The two dealers mentioned above were about the same. However one dealer I spoke to quoted me several hundred pounds for a first service. More than I was quoted for the MV I nearly bought but I got married instead!!

I bought an 2005 reg Tornado Tre privataly when it was 6 months old with 1200mls on the clock - it has now done 4800mls in the past 18months of ownership and except a gear selector problem (which eventually they replaced under warranty) I have had no problems - I think its the luck of the draw personally !!

Now one of my mates bought an Aprillia 6 months old just after I bought the Nelli and so far he has had - 2 new ecu boxes ! - Injector bodies replaced - Swingarm replaced (manufacturer recall) - new clocks as the LCD blew up internally !

So I think like with anything there are some good ones and some bad ones - unfortunatly Benelli have a greater percentage 'bad uns' compared to other manufacturers.

I have only ever had Honda bikes that have been without any trouble (but then again do you call 3 batteries in 4 years good?? (That was also with it on an optimate for good periods over winter too !!!!)

I would say go for it - but I havent had as many problems as say - BigBadAl !!

dont buy it!!!

i just took delivery last week. An 07 TNT Sport. It never worked probably. If it starts it is a great bike, but i have never started the bike twice in the same trip. Meaning, I can start it and ride it for the trip, as long as I don't turn off the engine, once I stop somewhere, it won't start again.

i am still working with the dealer to get it solved, but i am really hoping i will get my money back.

Its a beautiful bike, it is fun bike when it starts, but it is NOT a bike to own.

Ok So Far!

I,ve had my baby for a week now and it's been great.I dont have a problem about the clutch, seems fine.I love the way the bike growls as you let her rip!
Yeah the trip keeps resetting and i set the clock then that unsets itself but for all the looks i,m getting and new friends it's worth it!
Taking it to donington wsbk this sunday with me missus on the back so will no more about the reliability then(rear shock will get tested well!):rolling:

Hi Mark (Benelliboy)

Drop me a line (or PM) if you fancy meeting up at Donny at any point fella.

I would be interested to find out what your Missus reckons to being on the back - my girlfriend is contemplating getting on the back - she hasnt been on a bike for over 10 years due to a major RTA - but the silly small seat is putting her off more that the flashbacks to the RTA ??

Hi Benelliboy, im surprised you have the clock reset problem, I believe you have an RS ? My RS and Sharkys as far as i know dont have this problem.
What colour do you have ? Look on the vin no and you can see what year it was made. The tenth digit = year. Mine is 04. Did Taz give you all 4 keys ? and the tool kit ? :)

Red 4

What tool kit??? I dont know why mine reset's itself then.I mean the trip counter by the way not the total mileage figure.
I have 2 flicknife style keys with datatool remote's and 1 normal key.
My battery does seem to like decharging a bit quick also? And my indicators keep stopping flashing and just stay on,seems more prone to when the bike is damp or wet.
Yeh would like to meet up at donny son.

Benelliboy I have an unused tool kit and a laminated printed colour users manual for you Tornado if you want it. Send me a pm if interested.:D

Tool Kit

You Should Get A Small Toolkit In A Bag, It Does Not Fit On The Bike, But It Includes A Tool To Remove The Petrol Pipe From The Tank ! And A Plug For After The Pipe Is Removed. Two Flip Keys Are Supplied And Two Normal Keys Which Are Joined Together And Have A Tab With The Code Number In Case You Ever Need Replacement Keys.
I Would Get The Battery Tested As It Could Be Faulty.
P.s. You Should Have Bought A Yellow One They Are Much Faster;)
