Sorry for this Intrusion on the Bike forum but my mobile phones up for renewal soon and I was thinking of having a Blackberry phone but I'm struggling to find anyone I know who has tried one, has anyone on here tried one and how do they rate it ? I use my phone for work mainly for calling customers and of course for forwarding jokes, checking my fantasy football, you.tube etc :D , so any help would be appreciated  ?

I have a Blackberry for work and to be fair it's a pain in the
You can never get away from anything! (nowhere to hide ;) ) It's rotten for opening attachments.. i.e no use whatsoever!
Bring back pagers and phone boxes! :D

If you were using it for personal use I would say it could be pretty handy :) to have if you email loads.
It really depends how much you rely on email though. If you don't rely on email much then dont bother.
If you prefer the mobile to be able to access the net (ie the Benelli Forum) you dont need to go down the Blackberry route. Just get a good mobile with internet access. Most of them do nowadays.

Blackberries are more suited to commercial use. Just my 02 Cents

If it has anything to do with work keep away if you can ..... they don't call them 'Crackberries' for nothing. Mine is the bane of my life at the moment .. Have only just switched it off but I'll bet when I check it in the morning someone will have sent an 'important' email at 3.22am or some similar time.
Can't remember the same stuff being so important before we all got given the things.

Have a BlackBerry Curve (8330) via Verizon Wireless. True, you become available to anyone via any form of communication, but you can quiet everything on it and only check it when you want. It's nice to be able to check your email and surf the web from anywhere. Couldn't go back to my old Motorola Razr now.

Hello,

I rather support the first comments. I have also a BB for professional use and it is really a pain.

For all the stuff it could do it is too slow and the battery is too weak. Every 2nd day you need to search for a socket if you haven't forgotten your charger. There is also a chance to load it with a USB port of your laptop. But now start thinking. Would you bother with this small piece of shit when you have a laptop on hand.

I am just looking for an excuse to give it back. The only useful thing on the BB is the quick and syncronized access of your diary.

You will find yourself writing stupid answers to questions you have not fully understood because of the small display and the poor possibility to look at attachments.

Give life a chance and don't buy one.

Best regards

Hey Rob,

if you want mobile web-browsing, email etc then it's worth considering the iPhone.

Web-browsing is brilliant with the touch-screen's zoom-in and out. It has a built-in YouTube browser too. And Perhaps the most useful thing is the iPhone version of Google Maps, which is great for finding your way around.

Recently I downloaded a free app which uses your current location to find nearby Pubs, Banks, Petrol Stations, bars, etc. I reckon this could prove really useful when touring and running low on fuel (petrol or food ;) ) It displays the locations on Google Maps and will even work out a route if you ask it too.

All data-access is free on the 02 iPhone tariffs so you can surf as much as you like in the UK. Overseas you need to limit your web-browsing unless you can find a free WiFi point.

Don't take my word for it - go and try one out in an 02 Shop or Carphone Warehouse?

cheers,
Dom

Cheers Dom:bow: , my brother has an iPhone and it looks the business in lots of ways, in fact it's pretty awesome, other than it's size, but I'm led to believe you can't forward texts, which I find difficult to believe as it's such a simple thing needed ! And how am I gonna wind people up if I can't forward texts  !

As BenelliDave:bow: mentioned, the Blackberry Storm is on it's way and that looks pretty good, matbe I'll wait for a review on that one.

Cheers guys

Rob, my mobile contracts up soon and I've been looking for a replacement for the N95 I've been using. The obvious choice would be the new N96 but I've been told that the new N96 has the same sh*te battery life as the N95, which is really cr*p.

Looking at the Blackberry Storm, but not sure as the camera is any good and I like taking pics with the phone (convenience). I quite like the look of the Samsung Omnia. http://www.samsung.com/uk/experience/mobile/omnia/?pid=uk_mobilelanding_kv_omnia :)

I've just bought a Nokia E71 to get emails on the go.
Most reviews rate this higher than the B/Berry as the keyboard is a joy to use, and a well spec'd phone.
Bought mine for £229.

;)
I have the 902 - took me a few weeks to get the hang of it - now I think its bang on :D
