Hi everybody , was in my local dealer last week having a mooch around and in the corner all alone was a 07 purple and silver trek , god I loved the looks and after a little brain heart confrontation I approached the manager asking about a straight swap for my 05 z1000 . He bit my hand off he said it was too exotic for his usual customers so 4 hours later I ride out on a 3000miler trek full service and new mot . I waved goodbye to my lovely zed and rode off on my new ride !!
Having never ridden a triple but have had a ducati 999 I just love the engine.
My thoughts on the bike after 500 miles !
Engine
Torque torque torque
It goes like stink but it has some caracter this goes like this through the rev range gruff, smooth , vibe , gruff , scalded cat.
Throttle response abit digital
Can feel both air flapper and exhaust valve doing stuff gets in the way off the engine reving.

Handling
Way way way better then my z1000 no mid corner wallow, totally planted on bt023 tyres .
Don't think it needs anything doing , plush compliant but sporty.

Styling
I love it enough said.

Electrics
All ok at mo.

What it needs and recommendations welcome.
A louder new silencer god it's so aneamic sounding as standard.
Decat link pipe
Air flapper mod
Exhaust valve mod
The latest fuel maps to suit.
I understand bennets in Barnsley is the place to go but I am in Kent any other places as good let me know , also any bennelli owners in Kent please if on rideouts please contact me thanks guys Jason ...

welcome to the mad house buddy, enjoy the trek 1st Mod is just wire open the exhaust valve it makes her sound nastier :)

Hi and welcome,

remove the air flaps, fit a DNA, remove the inlet restrictors and get rid of the cat. I wouldn't bother with a pipe myself as I think it's a great noise without the cat. Oh, wire the exhaust flap open too. Yup, Bennetts is the place.

new trek

thanks for the welcome , sounds like a call to bennets then.. any info on trek ownership welcome will look into doing some off the mods myself if i can lol.
if exhaust wired open and decat does it need a remap ????

Hi, welcome, Bennetts is the place, my Tornado runs sweet after the boys sorted the fuelling, I have only been a Nelli fan a short while but its the dogs! Stay lucky, Mick.:)

Welcome.

My Trek is in with Russ at Bennetts having its first service and a few other problems fixed. My bike was the same as your one with the throttle response, and stalling from time to time. Russ tells me that he thinks it's the fuel pump, Russ ran the bike with as another tank fitted and the bike was fine. So new pump on the way.

FYI, I'm in Essex and Russ did a pick up and drop off survice as he was picking up 3 other bikes from the south. If all goes well, he'll be due to drop my bike at my home on the 8th or 9th October. You could give him a ring, as he may be picking up more bikes around the same date. It's worth a try.

Cheers
Roy.

hi!

Hi everyone!
I like it a trek and I'm very glad that in this place I know a lot of info on this bike ..
But my decision if I get one, lacking the experience positively, that I would like to see here
In Croatia, there are very few Benelli motorcycles, perhaps only a few, and positive experiences can contribute to the expansion of community and overcome the possible problems ...
cheers!:hiya:

An 05 Kwaka swap for an 07 Benelli TreK is a no-brainer!
Congratulations:clap:

Hi thanks for the kind words , I was really happy with my z1000 nice an loud , fast etc but the handling around the feisty stuff was a bit wayward , I tried everything to set it up but they seriously needed the front end revalving and springs doing and a new rear shock so a grand spending on it. So when I saw the trek I had to chance my luck .
The handling on the trek is brilliant as standard just sort out the furling and it will hopefully be a keeper .

another new boy

Hi Guys, I have bought myself a Tornado RS, long story, starts with a Harley of all things, bought an xr 1200 flat track thing a year ago when I was working in siberia. A pressie to myself fo sub 55 degree temps and crap food.. I decided I had to slow down so bought the hog. Then spent 4 K making steer and go like it should. Fast forward. May this year, suns out Im back from Iraq, 2nd morning home and , SMIDSY.. woman turned across me and cut my bike in two. I bounced and walked away. (thanks to my new Rukka suit) Did me a huge favour it turns out. Protected insurance value and I actually MADE money on the deal.
So while waiting for the insurance to pay out I bought a Duke 900ss on ebay, didnt think I was going to win it so while I was waiting for that I test rode a 900 RS. Test ride lasted a couple of hours and a hundred plus miles. Came in put a deposit on it there and then. Two days later won the Duke. Minter in stunning nick..
So here I am, sat in Dubai home tomorrow, two red bikes in the garage that I hardly get ride, hoping the roads stay dry. Looking forward to riding the triple. Im no born again , been riding 30 years and was a big time laverda nut so love triples. My wife has a sprint st 1050 and it is like an armchair compared to the benny. (laverda heritage is tied up in both bikes asit happens, in a roundabout way) I think the RS is what the Jota would have become so I love it to bits.

Anyway enough of my billy no mates ramblings,

A few questions,
1.How many RS s have been built ? anyone know ? (Easy to kid the wife its rare and worth keeping benellis will never be telephone number collectibles, my old SS is the better bet on that score, I bought it to ride !)
2,Where can I get a bubble screen ?
3 Best pipe to fit ?

I would like to get some carbon goodies in from Czecko, anybody bought stuff from them or thinking about it? maybe we could team up and get the discount I see mentioned on the forum.

Lastly anyone in Southampton area know of a local meet ,

Ill keep you all posted on my first ride out in a month later this week.

Desertfox.

new member update

hi guys ,
just an update , had a day off today , the fiddle bug started this morning , stripped down the rear end and the exhaust , took the cat out bit off a pig about an hours work with a long cold chisel and removed the exhaust valve , managed to tig some bronzed steel blanking plugs.
my thoughts after the mods .

seems to start easier ??
sounds far far better
idles more consistantly
throttle pick up seems better
couldnt ride as pissing hard down here .

negatives
must invest in a proper spring puller scrapped knuckles again lol..

I let russ @ Bennets do the intake side mods etc as remap can be done then ..
one question for you experts ? there is an lambda sensor screwed into the exhaust does the trek run a closed loop ecu system ? can the system compensate for major intake / exhaust changes ? or just minor variations .

cheers guys jason...

Rodders mine has had all the mods done and was easily remapped on the axone within the parameters .I dont know weather its a closed loop system but Matt or Russ can tell you .It does run a narrow band sensor i know that much .How ever if you need some technical info Colin tornado and Erroll on the forum are well up on matters of the ecu /motty af/tune boy etc .

If what ferret says is true (& I've no reason to doubt him), then the ECU will compensate for intake & exhaust changes, at low throttle settings. It will adjust the injection times to reach 13.5:1 (I think that's where the narrow band sensor flips over).
It will not do this at high throttle openings though, unless it works very differently to most ECU's. At those settings, the loop is opened, and the map is all the ECU goes by. So if you change inlet air or exhaust flow, you will need to re-map.

Hi Guys, I have bought myself a Tornado RS, Desertfox.
Congratulations on becoming a connoisseur owner! Twice!
Cheers & pass the champagne!
