The engine light should go out once you have the engine running as it does a system sweep to check all is well...if it stays on while you are riding then take it back to the dealer to be plugged in see what the issue is,on a new bike guess would be a loose connecter somewhere....just a thought not to be confused with the Abs light that will go out once bike is rolling above 10mph or so.
