Anyone have a read on how much thier bike uses for oil?

I have put about a quart (~0.95 liter) in the bike over the last 1000 miles and it is down again. This seems wildly excessive as I do not beat the bike - I mostly ride between 4000 to 6000 revs and only occasionally get it up to 11,000.

Also, the bike runs okay and I took it apart over the winter to check the valves, could I have pinched the breather and now be pressurizing the crankcase???

I can't believe that over the winter the bike has developed a more serious ailment such as a ring problem or valve seals; any ideas?

I once used a similar amount, but it was an isolated event. No idea why.
She does tend to use it more as the service gets closer. It thins out as it ages, I guess, and gets past the rings easier.
At nearly 50,000 km, though, she is using more than she did.

You'd have difficulty pinching the breather. It's too short to put back kinked.
