I just had my first service performed yesterday at my only Benelli dealer in my state in the US. Everything went okay except for the oil they used. I noticed today that they used a Motul 300V 10w40. I called and asked why they deviated from the service manual recommendation of 15w50 syn. They stated that Benelli had updated there recommendation to a 10w40 syn. So what is the real weight that is supposed to be used. I know that the service manual we have is a little dated.

If they did use the incorrect oil weight, should I change it out? I only use the bike twice a week. I also don't drive aggressively.:rolling:

Hi DR,

I know that Benelli have changed the recommended weight of oil but I thought that they were now stating that it should be 10w50

No don't change it. You will not have any problems. If you are concerned change it the next time round.
OH! as you drive like a granny on a Sunday drive, you might have to change it as the oil won't get up to Temp.:rolling: :rolling: :rolling:
Ride aggressively the "Bitch" will love it.
