paint codes

Goodluck, spray painters here in Oz (as I expect around the world) do not recognize the code, in fact all spray painters we have contacted in Australia cannot even match the green exactly.

RobB, Are you in the UK...??? If so a company called RS can match the paint for you once you have got the code. The only problem is half a litre of paint costs about £30.00 but if you are doing the whole bike it will not work out that expensive...

paint code

Yes im in the UK :)

I was thinking of going to the benelli dealers up my road to buy a bottle of touch up paint and then take that to a paint makers to be matched, they may even have the code i need, but sounds like they might have trouble matching if i dont have the code :S

Have you got any links or numbers for RS??

Cheers

RobB

RS Website

I'm not sure if it's the modern Benelli bikes that they can match. You may find that it's the older Benelli's of the 60's/70's.

Paint

Just got back from dealers and apparently the green is a laquer, not and actuall green paint. It seems its painted silver underneath and then laquered with green; apparently a very speciallised job. Throws a small spanner in the works cos it also sounds expensive :rolleyes

They have given me a number of a local place that can do it so will be popping in there next week to have a word.

Re: Paint

Yes the lacquer sounds right.

I visited my local custom bike builders.

They were preparing a couple of bikes for a motorshow and they had done a bike which was a couple of shades of the Benelli Green.

So it may need a couple of coats over the silver base.

I also hear that some have tried a "gold apple" base.

Please share the outcome with us , if and when you do proceed.

Cheers

paint

Right, went to Halfords today and they cant match it without a paint code, they dont even do the analysing. And as i cant see my local dealer lending me a bike for the paint to be analysed looks like i might have go find a colour as close as i can get :rolleyes Im not too bothered if its just off as long as its pretty close.

JohnnyO, have you got the paint code at all thats not recognised? It'll be a start, and just never know it might be reconised, the guy at Halfords seemed to know what he was talking about also which helps.

Cheers RobB

Halfords can't match it!!!

I took the paint code that is stamped under my Pillion seat to Halfords but they didn't recognize it and so couldn't match it.

I ended up selecting the closest match from their colour swatch books which was 'Yamaha Verde Metalic green' (Paint code G768)

It's not exact, and dries a shade lighter, but better than nothing for toching up the stone chips.

paints

Ordered the stuff today and they said it will be with me tomorrow! Thats fast!

They have reference numbers on the tins of paint apparently, so when i get them ill post em here. That way all you do is just give the the reference number on the tin and theyll send you it!

The siver base undercoat is 50 quid and the candy apple green lacquer is 86 quid. Thats for a litre of each +VAT.

Re: paints

Hi Rob,

Did you have a chance to try the paint as yet?

What was the 'match' like and do you have any pics of the end result?

Hiya. Not got the paint done yet, im repairing the bodywork tomorrow and then taking it straight to my mate who's spraying it for me.

Every now and then i see a Benelli at the bike meets i goto, soon as i see one ill park up next to it to see how close it is :D Depending how many layers of the green lacquer go on will depend how dark it is, but ill be doing a picture for him to give him an idea. :)

Ill post pictures up for you guys soon as its done ;)

By the way, its a ZXR400 the paint is going on, should look the nuts if my mental image is correct :lol

red paint

Just in case anyone has a red bike I've found some paint that any bodyshop should be able to make that is quite a good match for a red bike. The code is YM21B and I believe its an old benelli colour.
