Can anyone help? Being of short legs at 30" I would like to lower the seat height on my Tornado has anyone done this? if so how?
I think I can drop the forks through the yokes to lower the front but can't see how to can the rear.
Has anyone modified the linkage to lower the rear?

One very happy short legged owner.

Yes I am thinking of platform boots :D

Seat height

Paultzr

There is a thread (there are probably several) on The Forum about lowering the Tornado. I asked the same question when I first bought mine, as I only have a 29" inside leg. Dont ask me where the thread is, I suggest doing a search as I recall the thread being fairly comprehensive at the time. Or I am sure someone on The Forum will help you in time.

I manage with the bike as it is, I have not dropped her in 18 month as a result of height. I just think well ahead about where I am going to put my foot down. Ken from Bennetts also showed me a technique for sliding off the seat, as it is quite narrow, which works well.

I qualify the dropping above, because if you are new to Tornados, make sure the somewhat poxy sidestand is down properly. I had just taken delivery of mine, not ridden a yard put the stand down, thought it was OK, and over she went!

Best of luck!

I too, only have about a 30" inside leg.
The height in itself isn't a problem. What I do find difficult is trying to paddle it backwards when I've run out of steering lock!

I tried to turn round in the mouth of a junction the other day, didn't allow for the camber, so in the end, ended up having to get off and physically manhandle it backwards.

You feel a right prat when people are waiting :rolling:

Exactly. Try 10mm (3rd ring). Any further and you may run out of clearance.
.. but can't see how to can the rear. Has anyone modified the linkage to lower the rear?
Since you're short (like me - 28" inside leg), you'll probably be fairly light as well (I'm 70 kg), so dropping the rear pre-load by 10 mm works well. I've never bottomed out, and I carry a fair bit at times, as you can see in the 2nd row of pics here
All explained here, including the side-stand problem.

forum fo the short of arse

Also being short with a 29" inside leg the Tornado takes time and planning when coming to junctions.

The only issues are when the steering lock is not enough and you have to reverse - I have to get off the bike and walk it back!

The side stand is CRAP. Mine has already fallen off once requiring a new mirror and straightening up the top fairing support frame!

At the moment i ensure its in 1st so it cant rol off the stand. But I will now investigate the shims to increas the angle to get it more stable.

I smashed the clutch lever costing ÂŁ30 on EBay to replace and repaint the tip of the mirror luckily that was about it.

A tip, I found Halfords base red, right out of the machine an exact match....and I mean exact. Russ would verify that, he has seen the mirror.

I have given up doing U turns on the Nelli, the lock is useless. Unfortunately, being a short arse it does mean you look a complete novice getting off the bike to manouver the it.
