Just one more thing how do I set trip I take it the black button behind indicator button has something to do with I pressed this and got stop clock pressed again and just resets ???

bit of black art on mine!
it is that button, but needs a certain timing/sequence which i am struggling to recall!
think you hold it for a few seconds, then press twice in quick succession. or something like that....

The point at which the light comes on does seem to vary, my Tornados comes on with 2 blocks left after 70 ish miles, (thats ridden quite hard, with 100 max on a motorway run)
Never run the dry (yet!) but if the pumps are to be believed i would generally have 3 or so litres left.
