Can anyone tell me the running in procedure on the 899 engine

whats the revs your allowed till first service and how fast is that

Just trying to get a feel for what the speeds are as ive got 200 miles home then a 450 mile trip the next week

on my gixxer it was 7500 and that was over 90 which was fine

I generally ride a bike on the torque so 7500 revs on an unfamilar NEW pride and joy was fast enough

but i can tell you she did 146mph in 3rd at the red line:D when i thought the engine had conked  but it was the limiter hehe

Dynamo,
It's all in the handbook you should have been given (if not it's a quick download on the Benelli website) main thing is warm her up well and no hard acceleration or more importantly labouring just be gentle until the first service, the worst way to run a bike in is to sit on a motorway at a constant speed for a few hundred miles it tends to glaze the bearing surfaces.
Enjoy.

sorry omitted to say the first 200 miles are home from picking the bike up in leeds so i aint got no book yet;)

I had looked on the UK site but then thought of the WWW.benelli.com site and found all the manuals in english

it says this

0 to 500 Km
(0 to 312.5 mi)............5000rpm

500 to 1000 Km
(312.5 to 625 mi).........7500rpm

1000 to 2500 Km
(625 to 1562.5 mi).......9000rpm
rpm max.

So what speed is 5000 revs an a 899?

and also 7500 revs

TnT899s

Hi Dynamo. 5000rpm should be good for about 80-85mph in top gear & 7500rpm will around 100mph.
Bought my 899s in september last year and loving every minute of it, only problem so far has been a new set of clocks needed which were replaced pretty quickly under warranty.

So far so good !:)
