Hi, I am new to the Forum and currently looking at buying a Tornado triple in the UK.

johnyrottin recently posted some interesting details of factory Production data (below) about the various models which included the general (country) location of the current LE owners.

Factory Production Numbers
RS red: 363 pcs.
RS yellow: 45 pcs.
Tre 900 red: 409 pcs.
Tre 900 green/silver: 925 pcs.
Tre 900 black/silver: 205 pcs.
Tre 900 NERA: 1 pc.
Limited Editions: 150 pcs

Reading members historical threads on the Forum about the different model variations, although the standard Tre models are more likely to be available due to the higher production numbers, as the higher spec RS models appear also to be a popular choice, I wondered if anyone had any similar details as the LE list, as to how many Red & Yellow models are based here in the UK?

Thanks - Holdie

I think you will find there are less than 20 RS in the UK, probably no more than a dozen on the road. 3 are yellow for sure , the rest originally Red. One was red and now known as Blue Nellie, ex UpnorthWill, current owner is on the forum.
I have a red one , with two sets of livery, original with mirrors etc , but currently in two tone silver, including tank and mirrors . The only one with a Motty AFR fitted. There has been a red one for sale Cirencester area on and off. do not know if it is currently up for sale. They do not come up for sale very often.

This is only my opinion, but the LE is a beautiful bike and only 150 made, but some still exist unridden.
So there are quite a few lurking in collections. Tornado,s that were sold to riders to use have become as rare over the last twenty years. They are not everyday rides.
Your list does not include the "big" Nellies, the 1130 Tre which was a combination of the RS extra,s over standard plus a stonking 160 bhp engine, the big front forks and brakes etc . They only made just under 200 of these in Green/silver with black frame or Black/silver with red frame you see even less of these on British roads.

I was only considering the UK Errol, I know you fitted one to Janes RS and in fact it was with your help that this one had one fitted, it runs well. I do not know of other bikes or there locations around the world. I do not know of any bikes or models fitted with a Motty over here. Hope you are well and enjoying your summer, we wait for spring and better weather here .

Maybe in the UK, but I fitted one to Jane's RS some years ago. AFAIK that bike now lives in Sydney.

Very neat.
Why two switches?
I have just one switch, used for map selection. I changed the RH switch-block to one with an extra switch.

The kill switch marking is back to front, but that serves to confuse a potential thief, along with reverse shift.

Good morning Neil1400, thank you for the welcome note (y)
Joining the Forum has definitely been a brilliant way of learning about Tornado triples from the many subject threads and in particular the fantastic feedback and advice received from the various knowledgeable members. It's much appreciated and I am sure will provide valuable guidance in my decision making.
I'm a big triple fan and having owned a couple of Laverda 1000's for 27 years, I am really looking forward to hopefully buying and enjoying a modern and definitely much more advanced version of this type of bike whilst maintaining the flair, character and importantly soul that only Italian marques provide 🍻

Hi RobShed, thanks for your message. Yeah, I was aware of Laverda's development of a significantly updated triple engine and rolling chassis (the Jota that should have been) before they went bust. Indeed the similarities between the Tornado and the preproduction Laverda SFC 1000 are very similar. This is actually one of the drivers for me to take my triple ownership to the next level, with the Tornado obviously offering a massive improvement in every area of it's design, construction and performance compared to the original Laverda triple production of the 70's and 80's which I have enjoyed over almost 3 decades of ownership.
The thought of owning a Tornado is very appealing! 😎
